Call for Proposals
The Jahajee Sisters 2020 Indo-Caribbean Women's+ Empowerment Summit is an interdisciplinary event that convenes an intergenerational, multi-racial, gender-expansive group of people to envision and mobilize for solutions to gender justice in the Indo-Caribbean community and beyond.

This year’s Summit, "Building Our Future: Love & Solidarity as the Pathway to Justice" will take place on November 20-22, and for the first time ever, it will be a three-day virtual conference open to all, including Indo-Caribbeans across the diaspora: the US, Canada, UK and the Caribbean.

The Summit will consist of plenaries, cultural performances, and workshop sessions. We are seeking proposals for workshops in the following tracks: 1) Indo-Caribbean History & Culture; 2) Arts, Creativity and Storytelling; 3) Healing Justice; 4) Political Education; and 5) Skill-Building. The deadline to submit is Sunday, October 25.

Workshop sessions are 90 minutes and can have two or more presenters. Expected attendance will range from 25-75 people. Please read the criteria below for what we are looking for.

Workshop Sessions We Want:

* Participatory: They are interactive, engaging and participants aren't being "talked at" the entire time.
* Practical: They offer tools and ideas that participants can use and apply to their work, leadership and life.
* Intersectional: They have an intersectional analysis & approach to addressing systemic issues.
* Intergenerational: They are encouraging of the participation of young people as well as elders.
