Please help Gosia continue her cancer treatments

Donation protected
Diagnosed at just 35 years old, Gosia has been battling a very rare and very deadly form of cancer known as Uveal Melanoma for over 12 years. We are starting this campaign to ask for help and much needed assistance that will allow Gosia to continue her treatments at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. Due to the rare nature of Gosia's cancer she has been treated and enrolled in numerous clinical trials spanning Chicago, Toronto, Pittsburgh, New York, and since last year, at MD Anderson in Houston. Gosia has had to travel around the country seeking treatment which has created a financial strain on Gosia and our family. Through this campaign, we are humbly hoping to raise $25,000 to assist with the costs of travel, hotel, and hospital bills so that she can continue her treatment in the coming year.

History:
In the fall of 2009 Gosia suddenly could only partially see out of her left eye, a visit later that day at an eye doctor sent her to the emergency room with what the eye specialist thought was a retinal tear. The next day Gosia found out the devastating news that it was not a retinal tear but instead Uveal Melanoma, a rare form of cancer that starts in the eye.  In December of that year, Gosia had a radioactive plate put behind her eye at UIC Hospital in an attempt to kill the tumor. The tumor in her eye shrunk and it was l hoped that it would not metastasize.

Unfortunately, in 2013 we found out the treatment had not prevented metastasis and Gosia ended up in the ER where a lesion was found in her liver. Gosia has been undergoing every treatment under the sun since, in a never ending battle with this disease.  She has had multiple surgeries, rounds of chemo, various experimental immunotherapies, including two separate TIL treatments.  Her fight and determination is just incredible and she has no quit in her.

About:
Margaret Cholodecki, who goes by Gosia, is a loving mother of 10 year old Alexander, she is the daughter of Jarek and Krystyna, a sister to Lukasz, and a favorite aunt to Alexander's cousins.  She is a wonderfully talented artist and painter, she is a teacher and a dreamer.  In 2017 she organized the incredible "Woman Unmasked" in Toronto, an event featuring a unique blend of theatre, live music, dance, performance art and installations that benefitted the Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness.  She is the epitome of the phrase "seize the day", she gets up every morning looking to do something memorable with Alexander, who in 2019 tragically lost his father.  Gosia pushes on, pain and discomfort be damned.  She is an inspiration to our entire family and if anyone can beat this disease, it is her!
