Privacy Statement June 2018 Definitions When using MapsTell services in order to obtain your cartographic behavioural profile, we collect some of your personal details. MapsTell will handle your data carefully and store them in a secure manner. MapsTell will always work within the rules of GDPR to guarantee your privacy. This document outlines the MapsTell Privacy Statement. We advise you to read this carefully before agreeing to it. By agreeing with this Privacy Statement, you allow MapsTell to register, process and use your personal data within the rules of privacy legislation. Cookies are small text files that are placed on a visitor’s computer when visiting a page on the website. A cookie registers a visitor’s information such as certain preferences. This means that MapsTell can improve its service to the visitor during their next visit. In practice this means that a cookie is used to remember you are logged in next time you visit our website. MapsTell does not use any other cookies. You can determine how your browser handles cookies. Your browser can be set to accept, not accept or partially accept the use of cookies. In the last instance you can decide which websites may use cookies, and all others will not be able to. This option is offered by the most popular browers like Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. Please visit your browser settings to choose your settings. Cookies can always be deleted from your computer. This too can be done by visiting your browser settings page. Use of personal data by MapsTell MapsTell will use your personal data for the following purposes: • To enable you to use MapsTell’s services; • To send you the necessary information about MapsTell; • To collect anonymised statistical data; • To provide information about you to third parties and/or give third parties access to information about you if required to provide the Services (e.g. a data centre), and you have given permission to do so and/or if this is required for legislative reasons. When you have created your account, you can always send us a request to remove your personal data from our database. When you create your account and complete the questionnaire, you provide MapsTell with personal information (your name, your email address, and the result of your questionnaire). Because it is important that you understand what we do with your data, but don’t necessarily want to read an entire privacy statement, we have outlined five main points.
Your data can be viewed by the MapsTell Guide (the person who invited you to complete the questionnaire) and by MapsTell (we protect your details and use these to create PersonalMaps).
Never! Not even if you ask us to. If you share your PersonalMap with others, then that’s of course totally fine by us!
In order to improve our products, we carry out research across all completed questionnaires. Any data in the database is anonymised. That means that the questionnaire results are not linked to your personal data (your name and email address).
