NICK Tilsley's life hangs in the balance when he gets trapped in quicksand during a trip to the seaside on Coronation Street.
Nick (played by Ben Price) goes on the beach break with Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) to solve their differences.
However things take a dramatic and potentially deadly twist when Nick goes for a walk and tries to jump from one sandbank to another when he falls between the two and gets stuck on quicksand.
Pictures show Nick struggling in the sand and crying for help, while Peter and Steve are walking nearby and taking pictures on their phones.
The pair immediately call the coastguard for help and scenes that unfold show the desperate struggle to rescue him from the grips of the sand.
He is then seen being rescued and placed in a boat to take him to safety.
It appeared that Corrie bosses were concerned about the risk factor in the scenes as a Royal Navy helicopter was pictured flying above to take a look.
The actors were later pictured getting a lift back to base with the coastguard tracking their buggy.
The trio went on the relationship healing trip to solve their differences.
Steve is the father of Nick’s fiancée Leanne’s baby, and despite Nick wanting to raise him as his own, Steve now wants to bond with the child. Meanwhile Peter and Nick have always had rivalry surrounding Leanne’s affections.
