A Safe Return to Learning Checklist

Your safety and wellbeing is the College’s number one priority. The Government has stated that colleges can start to welcome back learners from September. This checklist contains some of the key things to consider when you return to learning. Preparing to leave and getting to College safely • • • • • •

Remember to wear your College ID badge at all times. Check your timetable as there will be staggered start and finish times. College eateries will be open and vending options for snacks/drinks will be available. Please bring your own personal face covering. Where possible, we encourage you to walk or cycle to college. If you have to use public transport, please follow the Department for Transport guidelines, stay alert and remember to social distance. • If you car share please follow government guidelines. The NCP car park is available with an enhanced cleaning regime.

Personal hygiene at College Please adhere to covid instructions when you arrive at the College. Please continue to wash your hands for 20 seconds on a regular basis. Please use the hand sanitisers which are available throughout the building. You must wear a face covering on your arrival at college, as you move around the building, in communal areas and as you leave the building. • When you enter a classroom or digital resource area, use the sanitising wipes available for high-touch items and equipment, such as keyboards, printers, whiteboards and reception tablets. • • • •

Supporting College staff to keep you safe • Only touch things in the building when absolutely necessary and use the hand sanitisers. • There will be an increased cleaning regime in college; please give cleaning staff space to do this, being mindful of social distancing guidelines.

Social distancing • • • • • •

Maintain social distancing when moving through college. Movement within buildings should also be limited and done only when necessary. Classrooms will be set up with social distancing spaces between desks. One way systems for movement around the building will be in place where possible. Specified staircases for movement between floors, with a directional flow. Lifts used only by 2 people.

Further safety measures • • • • • • • • •

Minimal sharing of workstations – when unavoidable, cleaning between users is a must. Users of smoking shelters must adhere to social distancing guidelines. Screens will be in place to protect students and staff, for example, at reception. Posters/signage highlighting safety measures will be in place. PPE will be available as per your curriculum area risk assessment and for College First Aiders. Perspex screens in customer facing roles (reception, security etc). Reduced class sizes. Temperature checking machines. Social distancing signage within toilets.
