AAPA Webinar on CMTS Federal Funding Handbook Now Online

Yesterday, an AAPA webinar on federal grant funding opportunities drew an audience of more than 60 port representatives and marine transportation system stakeholders. The new and improved Federal Funding Handbook for Marine Transportation System Infrastructure developed by the U.S. Committee on the Marine Transportation System (CMTS) was highlighted in a presentation by CMTS Senior Infrastructure Advisor Catherine Simons. The Handbook is intended as a tool for ports and industry stakeholders to navigate the more than 80 federal maritime infrastructure funding, financing and technical assistance programs available through twelve federal agencies and departments.

The CMTS, a federal effort of more than 25 federal government departments, agencies, and bureaus, ensures polices based on national needs are developed and implemented to improve the marine transportation system.

Next week, AAPA will continue its webinar series on federal funding opportunities with a September 26 webinar on INFRA and TIGER grants – two major Department of Transportation discretionary grant programs. These two programs combined are anticipated to provide more than $2 billion in funding for transportation infrastructure in FY 2018. Deputy Director Robert Mariner and Senior Policy Advisor Paul Baumer from the Office of Infrastructure Finance and Innovation in the Office of the Secretary of Transportation will discuss the timing of these funding announcements.

Plan ahead and register in advance for the September 26 webinar at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
