If you were to pass me on the street, you probably wouldn't even look twice. I'm that normal. I'm just like you, only wealthier. I have it all. The kids, the family, the dog, a house on the hill. Hell -- I'm so cliché, I even have a white picket fence. I guess you could say that I've dotted my I's and crossed my T's. But what I also have -- what no one sees in yoga, or at Neiman Marcus, or during the dreadful Ladies Who Lunch charity events I attend (because only God knows why), and perhaps most importantly, in the school pick up line--are secrets.

Deep, dark, deadly secrets.

We all keep secrets, don't we? We all have thoughts in our heads, things we do, things about us that if people knew, they'd be shocked...right? Well, what if one day we just decided to let the cat out of the bag, so to speak.

What if we decided to let the whole world in on our dirty little secrets? And what if along the way, as we were spilling those secrets, we realized that things aren't always what they seem and with that knowledge, it changed the whole story?

In this book, I'm laying it all out there. The unraveling of my life. My coming undone. What one might've seen had they been paying attention.

What I've found in life is people often believe lies before they'll believe the truth. Well, here it is, in a nutshell. I'll let you decide which is which.

This book to me is indescribable, just completely unforgettable really. You know when you think heading into a good story that you have it all figured out? That you know exactly what will transpire before you even read a word? Well, that’s how I felt with Around The Bend, however - I was ridiculously wrong. All of my pre-conceived notions were way off the mark, I had no idea what was waiting for me within the chapters of this book. The tale of Jessica and Myles is a heart-breaking one, filled with crushing disappointments, harsh addictions, staggering loss - but above all else, its a story of incomparable love.
It wasn’t long before the lines became blurred, and she couldn’t determine which was worse – the physical pain she felt each day or the emotional pain of what she had become.

Jessica Clemens is caught in a downward spiral of destruction. Dealing with the traumatic after effects of a horrific car accident that nearly claimed her life, she turns to prescription drugs and alcohol to be her crutches in her time of need. Raised in a family of wealth, hearing the word “no” is not a common occurrence to her, so when her husband of 10 years suddenly announces he is leaving her and their two children - Jessica crumbles farther down into the depths of despair and depression. Being abandoned so shortly after her accident preys on her self esteem, causing her to further depend on other means to cope and get through the day. I can honestly say that the heartbreak I felt for Jessica in those moments was as deep as my hatred for her husband Spencer for being such a spineless bastard. The farther she falls into a dark place, the harder it is to see her way out.
It is funny how there’s always that moment just after you wake that nothing seems real, and you forgot that something terrible has happened - when for the slightest period of time it seems that things are the same as before.

Myles Ingram is a no nonsense kind of man. Military life has trained him to be calculated and disciplined and living by those rules is what has got him through the most heartbreaking of struggles. When he is offered an unconventional job of guiding a troubled, out of control woman back to her senses, he agrees. What happens next forever changes the course of their lives and the lives of those around them. I adored Myles’s character – his loyalty, his take charge attitude, his huge capacity to love…these are all the things that make him the man he is. He skillfully handled Jessica and her temper tantrums, maneuvered his way through her path of destruction just as he would on the battlefield – cautiously. When the two begin to realize they each have just what the other is looking for, the outcome is an unbelievably tender (and super hot) love.
“I think pretending that you don’t care, that you’re so open, is also a way of remaining closed.”

This is a book about second chances, about how strong the will to live can be once you have sunk down to the lowest point possible. I enjoyed the way the story kept me intrigued, the surprises kept coming and the emotions were paramount. Jessica and Myles are two characters that will stay with you long after you’ve cried your soul into a box of tissues. A must read for romance lovers.

Around the Bend by Britney King is a 2014 Hot Banana Press publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, this book was nothing at all like I expected it would be. I have to be honest and say this is a really good book, but I will have to put on my critical thinking cap for this one because it will be difficult not to step on certain plot landmines that could give too much away. I will also confess there are a few developments in the story I had a hard time with , but I can't really expound on those in the review. So, here goes...

Jess is wealthy, fairly comfortable with her marriage and the mother of two wonderful children. The only sad thing in her life was her father's dementia and dealing with that was very difficult. But, in an instant her life veared off course and was never, ever the same again.

Six months pass and Jess's husband decides to leave her alone while he takes an extended business trip, when she needs him the most. Due to a horrific situation, Jess becomes addicted to pills and alcohol and her children are being raised by the help. It is obvious that someone needs to be there for her. Enter Myles. A Navy SEAL who is hired to watch over Jess, who has no idea what his assignment will involve. When he arrives to start his new job he finds a woman deep into her addictions and having suicidal thoughts. This plumb assignment may be the biggest challenge Myles ever faced.

From the moment Myles enters Jess's life things begin to improve for her. Myles was tough on her and at times I didn't know if I liked him or not. But, he takes charge of her and opens her eyes and forces her to face her addictions, her marital state and the neglect of her children. She has setbacks and many trials, but slowly begins to grow as a person, to face life's issues without a drink, to stand up to her rat of a husband, and to become a real mother to her children, and maybe find true love in the midst of all that.
This novel was as heartbreaking as it was inspirational. Now, I have already told you there were developments in the story I could have done without. I did understand what the author was going for and in some ways this book put me in mind of a classic movie I saw once. However, despite the vast progress our female protagonist makes , the independence she forges and confidence she gains, there was still an imprint of sadness left behind and I would have rather have had things work out a different way.
So my final thought are this:
This author can really write a good story. This book is placed in the Romantic Suspense category and yes, it does belong in this genre, but this book is much more than that. It's a story of courage, faith, growth and the grit and determination a person found within themselves to climb back up from rock bottom and do something with her life. Jess is a true hero in some ways and should give inspiration to anyone going through a rough patch in life. Life is hard and Jess didn't ask for any of the things that happened to her. Although she got handed a big bag of life's lemons and she sucked on their bitterness for a while, with the help of a good, strong man who never gave up on her, she saw her way out of her bleak situation and learned to stand on her own two feet and take control of her life. She came out on the other side a stronger and better person and that was what made this book so good. I recommend this to romantic suspense lovers, but also to contemporary fiction and literary fiction readers as well. 4 stars

Okay, not the worst book I ever read, but I feel like the description doesn’t really match. I expected a twisty thriller and this was more trauma and erotic romance. I thought for sure the narrator would be spilling some deep dark stuff and shaking up those around her, but it’s just not like that. Yes, the husband has a few secrets, but none of it felt that shocking. This is really just a woman rebuilding her life after a car accident and battling drug addiction and finding love along the way. Honestly, I wouldn’t have picked it up knowing that. And there’s those who would enjoy this genre who won’t pick it up because it looks and description sounds like a suburban thriller.

I loved this book by Britney king she wrote this story very well, it captured me straightaway. I like this book as it has different emotions from the characters in the book it felt like I was there every step of the way feeling what they all felt, some things in the book I can relate especially to a partner that at the end I will not say what happened. I could even imagine what they looked like and see the emotions and wanted to comfort them☹️️❤️

I am looking forward to her other books

This book was very touching, I have not read a book like this ever and to say that I really truly fell in love with it. The story was very different from what I'm used to reading but I highly recommend it.

Very emotional at times, a lot happening in this story. Too much heartbreak that's for sure. I felt for Jessica because that poor woman went through so much in her life. My heart broke for her, but she was such a good woman that she easily forgave those who tried to hurt her.

I was very sad and emotional towards the end of the book. I never expected that ending, but again, this book was very different from what I'm used to reading. I'm used to happily ever after's with marriage and kids and so-forth. Although the ending wasn't what I wanted it to be, I was content with the way Jessica perceived herself and pushed herself to accomplish things in life that she never thought she could, with the simple push that a certain someone gave her.

I give this book 5 stars!

Britney King you have stunned me yet again with your fantastic storytelling. I feel as if you grabbed my heart and literally pulled it apart. This story is so much more than the synopsis tells you. The storyline is one of the best I've read. Britney will take you on an emotional rollercoster. She's gonna throw twists and turns at you that will leave you gasping. Like the Bedrock series this book is going to stay on my kindle waiting for a re-read. I'm so looking forward to seeing what else this author throws at us.
Amazing read that I highly recommend. If I could give this more than five stars I would!!

I’m not sure how this book is so highly rated. There’s no psychological thriller component, or domestic suspense. The summary reads as if from a completely different book. It’s not very well written and I just couldn’t bring myself to care too deeply about either main character.

** DEBBIE'S 4.5 STAR REVIEW **

Did you ever read a book and you think you have it all figured out and know just how it is going to end? Yeah, I thought so too reading this book but let me tell you I was wrong. This book took me on one h*** of an emotional journey that had me literally screaming at my kindle when I got to the end. This story is raw and will eat at you for days after you finish reading it.

This story is about Jess. A woman that life seemed perfect until one night her world was turned upside down. I wanted Jess to finally get her HEA. Christ after everything she went through she deserved it. The thing is sometimes life is not all rainbows and unicorns. Sometimes you have to fight like h*** to make things happen and even than life can throw you a big F U.

“The great lesson of Myles for Jess would always be that sometimes people come into our lives for reasons we may not understand at the time, but that these people end up changing the course of our lives- forever and for the better.”

The two main characters in this story are Jess and Myles. Myles comes into her life after a tragic accident when Jess’s life is a wreck. Jess feels she has nothing left to live for. Myles shows her how to fight to get control of her life back. Myles is broken too and Jess heals him while he is there to heal her.

“We came together two broken people, and it was our shared brokenness that made that kind of love so rare, and for a little while, it made us whole.”

The chemistry between Myles and Jess was great. They both were hard headed and spoke their mind. I loved that she didn’t take any of his crap and both of them could see through the masks they wore and saw the true person inside.

“Don’t ever f****** do that to me again. If you aren’t going to finish what you start, don’t bother starting it.”

“You’re a little better now, you’re no f****** piece of cake to live with, and if I don’t get out of here, I’m afraid one of us isn’t going to survive.”

This book will take you on one hell of an emotional rollercoaster ride. I laughed and cried and a few times wanted to smack the author with her own book. I am so glad I read this book and although the ending did not make me happy it was so worth it.

“His love taught her to keep going, for it is the only choice there is. It proved that pain, addiction, and ultimately, loss, as hard as it is to love with, and as bad as it sucks, has nothing on the power of love.”

Such lovely and intense material that needs to be read...

I can't say that this was something that I saw coming. From what I could perceive from the blurb, I gathered that this woman had enough of putting a front and just decided to stick her middle finger in the air and let loose. But its not even close to that, its about so much more, definitely more than what the main character paid for. Obviously there was more in store for Jessica Clemens, a wife and mother of two children with an inheritance to die for, or more or less kill for...

There is betrayal. There is love. And the motivation that kept Jessica from succumbing to the dark and delirious depths a person can fall prey to was someone who experienced all of that first hand and then some.

King gets into so much so fast with such skill and precision in her writing that I found it impossible to even consider a restroom break. Best believe I jumped up and ran once I finished.

This way of writing gutted me, stripped me bare, and expressing many emotions right along with these characters and the situations they are being put in. But at the same time, the writing was enlightening, uplifting even. Giving that spark of hope and faith the spotlight it deserved. Motivation is something people need every now and then, and there will always be those crucial times when it is a must to keep going and move on.

In the end, I was shocked with the ending of the story. I could not wrap my head about it, but it did make one hell of an ending and added to the rest of the story as a whole, completing its effect on the reader successfully.

Overall, this story is something I would recommend as some type of motivational, self-help contemporary romance to those readers looking for exactly that, or just a book with fresh, and original material which I give the author props for.

It has been awhile since I have had a book literally take me by surprise like this one did. It is not just a story of broken marriages and lost love, it is so much more.

Jess thought she had it all a loving husband, two amazing children and they wanted for nothing that is until the day the accident changed it all. Jess checked out on life and living after coming home from the accident, she would rather stay drugged and sedate then face what life had in store for her. She had a nanny, butler and driver to take care of everything else. But then one day her life took another turn when Spencer announced he was going to take a leave for awhile. Jess didn’t understand but it was still not enough to get her to wake up and get a grip on life.

Myles is a former service member from the Navy; he was finishing up his current job when he got a call from Addison at the agency to see if he was a fit for this new job. The job would be a caretaker for the property at Jess’s house, but it would end up being so much more.
Myles and Jess both have histories and are broken and seem to be just what each other need at this moment in time.

This story has twists and turns that make you have to stop and take a breath. I had my moments of happiness but then also moments where I needed the Kleenex. The story has attempted murder, extreme loss and everlasting love. It is a story that made me angry at times, but in the end the lessons learned and the time spent with the ones you love was all worth it.

Britney King did an amazing job with the writing of this book. The characters are so real, as well as the struggles they are facing. I definitely learned to expect the unexpected as I read this book but I loved every minute….

I had reservations about this book when I first started. The situation seemed unreal and too heavy for me to deal with. Those reservations quickly evaporated into a need to get to the next page and see what was happening with Jess & Myles.

Myles has been hired to look after Jess when her husband leaves the country after an accident has left Jess a whole different person than the one he married. The first encounter between Myles & Jess comes in her barn when she’s trying to kill herself. The relationship definitely couldn’t go anywhere but up from there.

Jess wasn’t looking for romance. Myles didn’t want romance. They found it anyway.

One of my favorite quotes in the book is this one when Myles is talking to Jess:

What I meant was that being with you...that’s what it feels like. A little raw, but familiar too. I don’t [know] why I’m saying this other than I think you should know...Being with you...it’s like....I can breathe again -- only it hurts a little and yet, at the same time, I can’t suck in enough air to keep me satisfied.

They both have baggage and they both have issues, but together they learn what life and love are all about. The best way that this comes across in the book is this line here:

All along she’d let him think he was breaking her, but maybe, just maybe, they’d actually been breaking each other.

There were definitely some surprises in this book and some of them shook me to my core, but I would recommend that you check out this book if you like books about 2nd chances and real love that doesn’t know the boundaries that people often try to put on it.

We meet our main character Jess when she feels her life is falling apart, and unfortunately, it pretty much is. After a terrible car accident, she’s experiencing problems with her husband Spencer (who drops a pretty huge bomb on poor Jess early on in the book which left me open-mouthed, saying “he’s whaaat?”), problems with drug and alcohol dependency, and issues with her two children. Then along comes Myles, who takes on the sexy, authoritative role in her life, which turns out to be just what Jess needs to get out of her funk. I LOVED finding out what really went down the night of the accident…but maybe I was being too optimistic…I was not expecting that ending!

Around the Bend was my first book by Britney King and I have nothing but good things to say about her writing style and talent. I will definitely be looking at more of what Britney King has to offer.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

2.75. I really don't know how I feel about this book. I'm not sure I liked it much. For more than half way through, I didn't like any of the characters, and started to feel uncomfortable with the turn of events. It felt like two books in one, two stories in one. The first half was a mess and the second half seemed destined for happy ever after.... I feel weird for feeling this way, since the reviews are glowing, but I don't think this is one I would recommend to my friends.

I have read several of Britney King's books, and I must say this is one on my favorites! It tells the story of a young woman Jessica who has gone through an awful life of abuse, drug addiction, and has gone so low she has finally reached the bottom. It will make you cry I mean really cry. But then Myles comes into her life and that's not the end of her story. This book tells of her victory and recovery from the life and abuse she has known. It's a great read, and I recommend it to the reading community.

I was expecting a lot more psychological thriller and a lot less 50 Shades of Grey. It was advertised as a thriller but really didn't even remotely resemble a thriller.

There are times when you read a book and days after you are sitting in your car and all you can think about is "that book." Well Around The Bend is that book! You can't help but let your mind wonder about the relationship, the healing, the devastation….and although you have a TON of thoughts and emotions pouring out of you, you know the story has ended. I think that is what all Authors want from us as readers is to have a connection, a question…an emotional attachment to the story. Britney King always delivers us "those" stories that provoke emotions and leave you thinking about the book days later. So let me tell you a little bit about this story. . .

"NEVER ASSUME THINGS can't get worse."

To the outside world Jessica's life seemed perfect. She was wealthy, had a successful husband, two beautiful kids and seemed happy. But what you didn't know was that she was far from perfect. Jessica could feel her life unraveling but just thought she had to put on that fake smile and carry on. But when an accident occurs leaving her badly injured everything in her life changes. Her outlook on the future changes. And secrets start coming out, even ones she was never prepared for.

"That woman was a train wreck waiting to happen and he wanted off the ride. The problem was he liked her. The trouble was she liked him."

Myles got a new assignment. He has no idea why he was reassigned but he doesn't ask questions. He is a former Navy Seal and used to change. And with a past as devastating as his he tries to stay unattached and is always prepared. But he was not prepared for Jessica, and the disaster her life is. She is an addict…but surprisingly he likes her. And for some reason that he can not seem to even understand himself, he decides to help her get her life back.

"I know you're scared." He shushed her quietly. And though he couldn't pinpoint exactly why he'd said it, he added. "We all are."

What the both never realized was that along the way they may find more out about themselves than they ever planned to. Because sometimes you never know just how strong you are. (and that is all I can say because you honestly have to read this story, no spoilers could ever do it justice)

"All along she'd let him think he was breaking her, but maybe, just maybe, they'd actually been breaking each other."

The last 1/4 of the book killed me. Even now days later I feel like I needed something… but what I am unsure. These characters are very real life, with a few WTF moments (her ex-husband OMG)! I will say I felt like I didn't get enough of Myles back story, I know this was more her story but I just wished we had received a little more. But overall the biggest plus for me was it made me think, which is rare in books these days. You will get emotionally involved in this story.

When Around the Bend was first released I started to notice some of my favorite bloggers raving about out it. When I saw the announcement for the blog tour, I was going to be all over it! I was so excited about this release! But unfortunately do to my personal schedule I was not able to participate but Ms King was generous to offer a copy for an honest review. I was not familiar with her Beyond Bedrock series but this book truly intrigued me. I was not disappointed in the least and found this to be a fascinating journey from having it all to losing it all and the fight to get all back. I look forward to seeing what else Britney King has up her sleeve! She is one author that will forever be on my radar!

Jessica comes from a life of privilege. Born with a silver spoon her in her mouth she does not need to worry about much except for planning the next ladies that lunch luncheon. She appears to have the perfect life and family. But for Jess, everything changes in a blink of an eye. A horrible car accident leaves her in a hospital for months and with that a dependency of prescription pain killers and alcohol. When she returns home, nothing will be the same. On top of her dependency, her husband leaves her for an extended business trip. Jess is quickly finds herself in a never ending cycle and what once was a vibrant young woman is now a drunken pill popping addict. She can barely function without her morning vodka and cocktail of pills. She is spiraling out of control and it seems that life goes from bad to worse at every turn.

Myles was hired by Jess’s husband to help get her life back on track. He was there to do one job and that was it. Having a military background, he was a no-nonsense, take no bs kind of guy. He quickly becomes the stability Jess is lacking her in her life. Little does he know Myles needed Jess just as much as Jess needed him. Slowly but surely the complex layers that make up Myles are exposed and what was once the hard ass hired caretaker becomes a caring companion and they both find something they never expected. When you think you have the story figured out, the more the story changes and left me turning the page after page to see how it all unfolds

Around the Bend is an amazing novel that will take you down the journey of addiction and the struggle to come out on the other side. It’s an inspiration and shows that life may not always be pretty, sometimes you have to dig a little deeper to find your true happiness. That sometimes you will find what you were looking for in the most unexpected places. That when you thought you had the perfect life, it was nothing but a shell of the life and person who you were meant to be. Jess’s story is truly one that anyone can identify with and have a connection too. I would highly recommend reading this one, 4 stars for Around the Bend.

I was rather surprised with this book. It isn’t a long story, took me just a few hours to read but will stay with me for a very long time. The author did a fabulous job at taking some of the rawest emotions and events and weaving them into a plot that will have the reader not only feeling the pain and joy but thinking about their own lives in the process. The characters are not only well developed they tell the story themselves. You will see what they think and feel while their actions might not always parallel their thoughts, you can understand why they are at this point in life.
Jessica has been married to Spencer for years. They have two children that are being raised by nannies but Jessica was very active in their lives till the accident. Coming from a high society family, Jessica was never told no in life and ran the race of society’s expectations for her. Once the wreck happened her whole world started to take a turn down a dark road that recovery never seemed to be possible.
Spencer, I felt was a cold hearted butt. He was so focused on business and obtaining and controlling the money from Jessica’s family and business, he never really was the interactive father and husband. When he couldn’t handle being married to Jessica any more he took off for Africa and stopped being her main line of support during her recovery. Jessica was addicted to booze and pain pills, I don’t fault her, with her injuries and rehab, the pain pills were the only thing that allowed her to function in physical therapy and survive. She has now lost everything, even the ability to take care of her own children.
This is where Myles comes in. Being a former SEAL, he was wanting a job that would keep him busy and in constant supply of fresh women. He never expected to fall for Jessica but with his controlling alpha ways, he was just what she needed to find her way out of the tunnel of darkness life had placed her in.
This might sound like a typical sad story romance but that is far from the truth. At this point the author will twist your emotions and break your heart. She will leave you yelling out of anger and cheering with joy. You won’t know what hits you when the truth about why Spencer wanted the divorce comes out and the reality behind the accident she was in. When even more of the lies are exposed she is left to deal with their children and her emotions about living a lie that she called marriage. I was so sucked in, there was no putting this book down till I found out how it ended. I would highly recommend this book to the readers and say keep watching for more from this author.

"Sometimes people come into our live for reasons we may not understand at the time, but that these people end up changing the course of our lives-forever and for the better. And no matter how long they end up staying-whether it's for a long time or a very brief period, these people matter, and that honoring them and what they stood for is the most important work of one's life.

Wow!! This story left me feeling so many different emotions all at the same time! Once I started this book, I was immersed in the story. Jess is living her normal every day life as a wealthy wife and mom of 2. Then one night changes everything turning her life upside down. Now she is struggling and feels like she has nothing to live for anymore. She's throwing everything away while the world around her, including her children, see her deteriorating. Then when she least expects it, Myles comes along and helps her pull herself together and shows her just how much more life she has to live. The struggles that Jess is going through are heartbreaking. Little by little, she finds out the life she was living was not what it seemed. So many secrets come out that have blown her away and now all she can do is be there for her kids.

I loved the relationship between Myles and Jess. Myles was the perfect person to help Jess with her battles and become a better person. The push he constantly gave her to get through her issues and start to enjoy her new life was exactly what she needed. He never stopped giving her his support and comfort when she needed him the most. He saw her at her lowest point, and knew he had to help her bring her life back together and take control. Myles is struggling with his own past that he has not gotten over, and together they help each other become whole.....

"We came together two broken people, and it was our shared brokenness that made that kind of love so rare, and for a little while, it made us whole."

I really enjoyed this story and would recommend it to anyone that likes when two people come into each others lives to pull them out of the darkness they are drowning in. I laughed hard and cried hard, but most of all...I fell in love with this story and all the characters! I am looking forward to reading more by Britney King.

4 stars! (slight spoilers)
I really love this cover.

Wow, what this book did to me. It took me on a roller coaster of emotions. Money does not bring happiness. After a severe accident Jessica Clemens mother of two, wife, and socialite spirals to the lowest point possible. She can't take care of her children, she is absent in her marriage and doesn't go about her daily routines anymore. She hits pills and bottles and becomes numb to it all. After her husband (Spencer) packs up and takes an extended trip to Africa it's time Jessica clean up.

Myles a navy seal is hired to watch over Jessica. Both Myles and Jessica have their demons, Myles wants to put his aside and "fix" Jessica. After an "agreement" Myles conjures up Jessica decides if she wants to keep her children she needs to get clean so with Myles help that's what they set out to do. Sparks fly and they form an intense relationship, which I felt in the reading.

I don't want to write too much more because there is so much to this story and I fear I'll ruin some shocking revelations if I continue.

Like I said this book did some things to me emotionally that I wasn't prepared for. At first I didn't like Jessica but the more the story continued I did and I really felt for her. Myles was great, yeah he had his issues and I wanted to set him straight a time or two but he really had the best of intentions. I loved the bond he formed with Jessica's children. Spencer well I really have nothing to say about him. I thought Jessica was such a big person to forgive the way she did.

This was a solid 4 star read for me "I really liked it" but for reasons I can't say I didn't love it.

I would definitely recommend, the writing is great and the story is too.

*An ARC copy was provided in exchange for an honest review*

I don't even know where to start! I felt so many different emotions reading this book. I laughed my ass off at some points, got totally pissed in others, some pieces had me totally fanning myself, & some had me just breathing deeply from all the love exhumed.

My favorite things:

OMG! The Notes!!! They had me laughing so loudly! I Loved it. Truly Myles being the smart ass he is... I love it! Smart and witty, that man.

Oh, & I absolutely loved Jonathan's journal to his mom! That spoke such volumes!!

Myles losing his shit... Beyond Hilarious!

The exchange Jess had with her father totally made my heart ache. To experience a loved one going through something like what her father was going through is not easy, by any means.

The "Today I'm not even going to pretend" email just made me sad, like I could feel how much she missed Myles. My heart sank as hers did and totally made me want to cry. It's like I could feel how empty she felt.

When Jess spoke of Hindsight being twenty-twenty... I've never heard truer words.

As you can see this book was kick ass! If I could give it 10 stars I sooo would!

And just to let you know I cried!!! Like ugly cried!!! Ugh!!! Why? Why?! Why Did you have to make me cry Britney? Lol I should applaud you for this my friend! It takes a lot to make me cry... But you achieved it.

Brilliant work Britney!!! Can't wait to see what books follow!

First, let me say don't judge a book by it's cover. Bad idea with this book. When I started reading it my first thoughts were that it was just going to be about a rich lady, Jess, who is addicted to drugs and alcohol, and it is. But it is so much more than that. She is married to a man that spends more time away from home than he does at home, and she has two children, a boy and a girl. She has everything millions of dollars can buy including an unending supply of alcohol and pills. Unfortunately she has a few things that money can't buy like lack of self confidence, lack of companionship, lack of will power to give up her addictions and a current desire to hang herself.
Her best friend realizes that Jess needs a babysitter and hires a retired Navy man that doesn't take any guff. He doesn't know much about Jess except that she is usually strong willed and stubborn and that her life is a mess right now. He decides on a rather unusual way to straighten her out. She agrees with his terms and they of set on a course of pain-pleasure , love-hate, misery-happiness and above all a journey of self discovery for both of them.
Not only the title of the book but Around The Bend takes the reader around the bend, in fact several bends.

I received this book free from Goodreads First Reads.

First off I am going to try and write as much of a spoiler free review as possible. I love Britney King and I was very lucky that I got to read this book early. In the Bedrock Series we get a glimpse at Jessica so we know something is going on but the good thing even if you haven’t read it this is a standalone book. When the book starts Jessica and her husband Spencer were involved in an accident. After the accident things went downhill from there. Jessica had so many problems to deal with and I honestly don’t see how she made it sometimes. Jessica is definitely a fighter for sure and I fell in love with her character. There were so many parts in this book that literally left my mouth hanging open. There were also times I laughed, cried, and wanted to throw my kindle across the room. This is a book that will play with every emotion you can think of. Not everything in life is perfect and not everything always turns out the way we want. But that is how life works and Britney did a fantastic job in this book by showing us how life works sometimes. I highly recommended this book and I am looking forward to more wonderful books from Britney.

What can I say about this book but WOW! What drew me to Britney King's writing and keeps me coming back for more is her ability to write about believable character and circumstances that we all face within our lives at one point or another. Britney’s writing is direct and ‘tell it like it is’ she does not sugar coat situations and life nor the characters she creates. Jessica and Myles are ‘real’ people with history and baggage but you love them and you cheer for them. Yes there are times that they make you mad, and you want to shake your fist in the air while screaming “what are you thinking” but that is what makes Around the Bend such a tremendous story. This book is a roller coaster of emotions and events, but so is life. And with every ride some things come to an end as other beginnings are just blossoming. Bravo Britney for writing another story of life, love and all the stuff that happens in between, the battle scars that we live to talk about and the pain we manage to deal with. As always you have a reader for life.

I want to thank Britney for the amazing opportunity to read this book. I can understand that it is a scary thing to have people read something you've put so much work and part of yourself into but she does a beautiful job.
The characters are forced to deal with very difficult issues and situations and there is no tip-toeing at all. Sometimes the book is sweet. Others it's raw and brutal. I was frustrated with Jess so often sometimes I wanted to find her and just yell at her (even though that's impossible). I had so many emotions go through me while reading this book. I love to feel that when I read though because that's what makes a great book.
I recommend this book to anyone and everyone :)

let me see how to put this in to words (which I'm not good v at to begin with) and not give spoilers I hate when people do that! at first I was unsure of this book just because it was so different then the books I normally read but I wanted different. man did I get that! this author has a true talent with taking a hard real life situation and making it nearly impossible to stop reading it until is done! the first few chapters were kinda hard for me to be addicted too, but once the next of the story kicked in I ended up doing up all night until I finished it. it is an amazing true life scenario that I'd ultimately all consuming! has love, heartache, and an ironic twist you don't see coming! I'm in awe.

I was lucky enough to beta read for Britney King again and this newest book Around The Bend is a great book. It is full of emotions that people deal with in normal families, love, regret, hope, grief, suspense, and most importantly self discovery.
Around The Bend will make you laugh, hold your breath for hope, and bring you to tears at certain points.
If you want a good read, this is it! I can't wait for it to be released so I can reread it again, it was that good.

I don't give spoilers away in my reviews, sorry.

I was lucky enough to receive and Arc of this book...

Jess is fighting a battle with addiction as her whole life unravels around her, that is until Myles comes into her life and puts things into perspective with his authoritative and demanding personality. Reminding her of what is important in life and making her feel once again. There is Such raw emotion displayed in the words of this book. Grab the Kleenex and pick up this book you won't be disappointed!

I can’t take a book seriously with that many grammatical errors. They’re vs their. Possessive plurals.
