Situation
Our Main Hall roof has been leaking causing practical and safety issues for our hirers to use after heavy rain. Taking into consideration the increasingly worrying issues our world is facing due to climate change, we at DCCA wish to improve the Community Centre's sustainability and reduce our carbon footprint. Consultation with our hirers (particularly those attending children's parties) has also requested a better, safer access to the adjoining Playpark (to avoid going through the car park).
Solution
Following an Energy Audit carried out in October 2019 by OxFutures and funded by the European Union Regional Development Fund, we wish to renew the roof over our Main Hall and at the same time install 40 solar panels with an in-roof system. We will also provide a storage battery and two Electric Vehicle charging points for hirers. We are replacing a boundary wall with a new fence and gate to allow more direct, safer, access between the Centre and the adjoining Playpark, as requested by our users
