Tarek El-Messidi is a Muslim-American social entrepreneur and speaker. In 2012, he was listed by Georgetown University among the 500 Most Influential Muslims worldwide. In 2001, he co-founded Fast-a-thon: an event that raises money to feed the hungry when non-Muslims try fasting for one day. Fast-a-thons have raised $1.5M among 300 universities. After earning an MBA and working at Procter & Gamble, Tarek founded CelebrateMercy: a non-profit that teaches about Prophet Muhammad through webinars and films. CelebrateMercy now has over 5 million video views and nearly 700,000 social media followers.

Through CelebrateMercy, Tarek has organized multiple campaigns of compassion - inspired by the Prophet's character. In 2017, he co-organized a crowdfunding campaign asking Muslims to raise funds to repair vandalized Jewish cemeteries. The campaign went viral after it was tweeted by J.K. Rowling and Ellen Degeneres in the first two days - leading to international media coverage  (see tweets and articles here). It resulted in over $160,000 to repair vandalized Jewish cemeteries and synagogues.
