About this event

In November the UK is hosting the Global Climate Summit COP-26.

2021 is a vital year for acting on climate; global emissions need to peak and reach net-zero by 2050 if we want to halt global warming at 1.5C.

COVID-19 has impacted the UK hugely, especially the cultural industries. Rebuilding from the impacts of COVID-19 whilst reducing emissions is not easy.

On October 17th, Music Declares Emergency, Adapt Climate Club and Bird On The Wire will bring the UK music industry together for an afternoon of discussion, debate and innovation focused on cementing UK music’s position as the global leader in industry sustainability.

This conference will build on the power of MDE’s 6000+ declarers and development of worldwide sister organisations by focusing on the opportunities for significant and sustainable change in our businesses. With an introductory address from a key UK music industry executive, our panels will cover recording, manufacturing, live, digital distribution and the role of artists.

Panel members will discuss the opportunities for a green recovery for the UK music industry and share their experiences of being agents of change, whilst Adapt Climate Club and MDE will share information packs and be on hand to discuss everything related to the afternoon in break out spaces across the day.

There will also be an exhibition of MDEs work to date on the No Music On A Dead Campaign and a screening of their short film.

Entry is free but there is a recommended donation of £10 per person to help us cover costs.

Tickets for the evening gig will be sold separately. Check www.musicdeclares.net for more details
