Animals including rabbits and hamsters have traditionally been injected, gassed, force-fed and killed to test the ingredients that go into everyday household products such as washing up liquid, air fresheners and dishwasher tablets. Such tests are still legal in the United States and most of the world, including the UK - despite the UK Government promising to ban cruel animal tests for cleaning products in 2010, the Government has still not implemented the ban.
