Visual contributions to books, magazines and journals

ALCS is now paying members for the visual contributions they have made to books and magazines as well as the written contributions they’ve made.

In order to receive your share of the money collected, you need to tell us which publications you have made visual contributions to.

Please be aware:

  1. You must own the copyright to the image you are claiming for (so it must have been drawn, photographed or ‘created’ in another way, by you). If you’re unsure if you own the copyright to the images included in your book, please check your contract or with your publisher.
  2. If you are a member of the DACS payback or PICSEL RightShare schemes, you cannot also make a claim from ALCS, and you will need to decide which organisation you wish to receive payments from.
  3. As part of the process of verifying claims you may be required to provide supporting evidence, such as copies of contracts or other commissioning documents, prior to receiving payment.

TYPES OF VISUAL CONTRIBUTIONS YOU CAN CLAIM FOR

  • Photographs
  • Illustrations
  • Informational images (such as diagrams)

CONTRIBUTIONS TO MAGAZINES

You can claim for visual contributions that you’ve made to magazines or journals published AT ANY TIME, unlike some other schemes we administer, there is no 3 year limit for claiming for visual contributions.

HOW TO TELL US ABOUT THE VISUAL CONTRIBUTIONS YOU’VE MADE

Members can now add the visual contributions they have made to books, magazines and journals in the members’ area of this website.

Take a look at our handy guide for more information on how to add your visual contributions to the members’ area.
