Do you have a passion for fighting poverty and food insecurity? Come serve at Good Food Collaborative (GFC) in Macomb, Illinois where you can make an immediate difference in our community. Every week, GFC delivers free groceries to approximately 220 households throughout McDonough County through our Mobile Food Pantry program. 23.3% of people in McDonough County live below the poverty line, with 13.2% being classified as food insecure. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, GFC has aimed to meet this need in our community with three key programs that tackle this issue directly: our Mobile Food Pantry, public access Victory Gardens, and our Food U program. The first VISTA will be primarily serving as our Media Coordinator and the other VISTA will be serving as our Victory Gardens and UGrow Coordinator.

Member Duties : Member Duties: The AmeriCorps VISTA Media Coordinator will: 1) Design and support the GFC social media plan. 2) develop systems for collecting and producing high quality testimonials from program recipients and volunteers. 3) Shadow all 5 programs to develop a holistic understanding of GFC and its impact in the community. 4) Create procedures for editing and storing video projects with multiple users. The AmeriCorps VISTA Victory Gardens and UGrow Coordinator will: 1) Work with current property owners of Victory Gardens to further expand the community gardens program. 2) Identify new and potential sites for the development of Victory Gardens. 3) Develop a strategic plan for the gardens. 4) Coordinate volunteers throughout all aspects of Victory Gardens and UGrow programming. 5) Streamline volunteer recruitment and tracking systems. 6) Develop the UGrow educational gardens video series with the assistance of the Executive Director and Media Coordinator.
