NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The coronavirus outbreak has now forced the state of New Jersey to empty out one of its nursing homes.

All of the residents of a coronavirus-stricken nursing home in Woodbridge are presumed to have COVID-19 and were being moved to another facility for treatment via a police-escorted bus, 1010 WINS' Roger Stern reported.

"It's a monumental effort to get everybody moved safely," Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac told Stern.

The 79 residents of the St. Joseph's Senior Home had gotten sick, and many of the staff were out sick also, so they are now being moved to a CareOne home in Whippany -- 30 miles to the north.

"It may be an inconvenience, but it's the right thing for your parents to have them moved to the CareOne facility," McCormac said.

As of Wednesday afternoon, there were 736 new cases of coronavirus in New Jersey, bringing the total number of positive cases in the Garden State to 4,402.

The total number of deaths reported in the state were 62.
