About this event

MLK 2021 March will take place virtually this January 18, 2021! We've planned some exciting things for the Greeley community to participate in this year's MLK Virtual March.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE

  • 9:00 a.m. - Welcome to MLK Virtual March (Zoom) and UNC Performing & Visual Arts Students, Performance of Black National Anthem
  • UNC Operation Cheesecake, Performance
  • DeAndre Smith, Soul Food Chef: DeAndre will give you a rundown on Soul Food and share a quick recipe from his kitchen.
  • Saida Dahir, Poet & Activist, Guest Speak: Saida Dahir from Salt Lake City is a student activist who uses spoken word to explore her place in America and the world. On the eve of her high school graduation, she recorded this poem.
  • Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. Closing Words
  • Everyone will be prompted to put on their MLK gear and participate in marching in your neighborhood, tag a selfie on social media showing your support, wearing your gear and walking in your neighborhood, park, etc. with #MLKGreeley2021.

Community members are invited to also participate in two pre-event program activities:

  • At the Table with Dr. King - Thursday, January 14 from 3:15-4:00 p.m.

TICKET TYPES

  • Free General Admission: No cost to register for the virtual march and performances. If you would like to watch the virtual performances, you will need to register to receive the Zoom link.

We cannot offer refunds for this event. Please be aware that there will not be refunds provided in any circumstance.

Pick up locations for T-shirts can be made at the following locations from January 12-15 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., pick up time for the High Plains Library District Mobile Unit is from 4-7 p.m. Masks will be required at all locations. You will specify your desired pick up location when you register.

UNC Marcus Garvey Cultural Center: 928 20th Street, Greeley, Colorado.

Aims Community College Center for Diversity and Inclusion: Ed Beaty 127, Aims Community College, Greeley, Colorado.

Center for Women’s and Gender Equity: Pick up time is from 1-3:30 p.m. or by appointment. Scott Wilcoxon Hall, 1915 10th Ave., Greeley, Colorado. T-shirts will be available for pickup on the east side of the center (unless there is bad weather).

City Hall Downtown Greeley Drive-Thru (1000 10th Street Greeley, CO)

High Plains Library District Pop-Up Vehicle: Pick up time is from 4-6 p.m.

  • January 12: West parking lot of Northgate Village at 71st Avenue and 10th Street (landmark: King Soopers Marketplace)
  • January 13: West parking lot of the City of Evans Commons Shopping Center at 47th Avenue and 28th Street (landmark: the old Bed, Bath and Beyond Store)
  • January 14: Southeast parking lot of Sanborn Park at 35th Avenue and 20th Street (landmark: Baskin-Robbins)
  • January 15: Southeast parking lot of the UCCC at 10th Avenue and 8th Street (landmark: across from Lincoln Park)
