• Data recovery: No data recovered = no charges. If data is recovered the cost depends on the data capacity of the hard drive:  128 GB or less = £49.   500 GB or less = £99.   1 TB drive = £149.   2TB drive = £199.   > 2TB drive - please ask for a quote. Most types of storage devices covered - including internal hard drives, external hard drives, SD cards, flash drives. Most filesystems covered including Windows, Mac, Linux formatted devices (NTFS/ FAT/ APFS/ HFS+/ EXT). Data from old computers can usually be recovered even if they don't power on. See the 'Data recovery' page for more details. I

• PC and Mac repairs: No fix, no fee or from £50 + parts if required. The most common problems are 1) issues preventing startup. 2) Automatic repair loop. 3) slow startup / shutdown times and poor program performance. 4) System crashes / BSOD errors. Sometimes a new hard drive will be required and / or a reinstallation of Windows or MacOS. Please remember to backup your files on a regular basis. 

• PC and Mac upgrades: Prices start at £50 + parts. Upgrading your current PC or Mac is by far the most cost effective way of improving the performance of your machine versus buying a new one. Swapping out your old hard drive for a new Solid state drive (SSD) and increasing the amount of RAM (memory) will give a HUGE boost to older machines. You should also upgrade to Windows 10 or 11 if you are running an older version of Windows. The most benefit of these upgrades will be for machines running Windows 7 or 8 or 10. 

Apple Macs are usually upgradable but it depends on the model. Common upgrades include replacing older hard drives (HDDs) with an SSD drive, adding extra RAM and upgrading the MacOS. Adding extra storage space is a popular upgrade for Macs. Send me details of your machine and I can tell you if it's upgradable or not. 

Hard drive and operating system upgrades will retain all your programs, settings and files. This is called an in place upgrade. Some customers choose to have a new copy of the operating system installed in order to start from scratch - similar to when you buy a new computer.

• Upgrade any PC to Windows 11 or any Mac to the latest version of the Mac operatings system (MacOS) - Ventura or Sonoma. Microsoft and Apple have arbitary limitations on which PCs and Macs can update to the latest operating systems. This renders older models unable to access new features and newer versions of 3rd party software such as Adobe, Office etc. I can upgrade any working PC or Mac to the latest OS. Get in touch if you would like more information. Various options available including keeping your existing setup and installing the newer OS on the same computer. 

• Design and build service for Desktop and Gaming PCs. You can choose the components yourself and I will build the PC. Or I can select the best combination of components based on a budget - then build it.  Have a completely new build or upgrade your existing PC with any combination of compatible components. This is what you need for a brand new build: Case, power supply, motherboard, CPU, Graphics card, memory (RAM), storage (SSD/HDD), Cooling (heat sink or water cooler), fans / fan hub, operating system (Windows in most cases). LED lighting (optional). Plus any peripherals if you don't have them already (Monitor, keyboard, mouse etc.)  I charge £100 or 10% of the cost of components to build the PC (the higher figure).  £49 to buy and install Windows 10 or 11 (optional). £49 to buy and install Microsoft Office (optional). £49 to move your existing version of Windows + programs + data over from your existing PC (optional).

• Dual booting:  Install a second copy of Windows or MacOS on  your computer. It can be a copy of your existing operating system (OS) or a fresh copy. You can install a newer or older version of the OS or keep the same version. Example: You may have Windows 10 installed on your PC. Add a second copy of Windows 10 or try Windows 11. Apple Mac users could add a newer or older version of MacOS - to try out the new version or use an older version to run legacy software. Another reason to run a dual boot is if you have problems with  your main OS. You can add as many copies of Windows or MacOS as you like assuming you have enough space on your drive. 

• Replacing conventional hard drives with Solid State Drives (SSDs) to give a BIG boost to computer performance and battery life. This can extend the life of older laptop and desktop PCs. £70 + cost of SSD drive. SSD drive guide prices:  120 GB = £25,   240 GB = £45,   480 GB drive = £75, 1 TB = £120, 2 TB = £190. Price will vary depending on the type of SSD drive required (NVME or M.2 sata or 2.5 inch sata). 

• RAM upgrades. £30 + cost of the RAM modules. The cost will depend on the amount of extra RAM you would like , the number of 'slots' available for RAM and the type of RAM (desktop or laptop , DDR3 or DDR4). 

RAM modules for desktop and laptop PCs are different sizes and are not interchangeable. 

DDR4 is the latest generation of RAM and is faster than DDR3. The two types are not interchangeable as they have different connectors. Your PC will either use DDR3 or DDR4 RAM depending on age. 

Guide price DDR3 RAM: Add 1 x 2 GB = £15, Add 1 x 4 GB = £25, Add 1 x £8 GB = £50. DDR4 - add £10 to the DDR3 prices. I will give you a price once I know which upgrade you need. 

• Backup solutions for files and operating systems. Data loss is the issue that causes more problems than anything else . If you invest in a good backup strategy you can save many hours of time and a lot of money should you suffer from data loss. Backup your personal files and your operating system (Windows or MacOS) for peace of mind. Price includes software and a full backup of your system plus details on how to run your own backups. More information 

• Data Organisation: If you have large numbers of files (documents, photos, videos, music etc.) in multiple locations I can use specialist software to organise the data into a user friendly format. This might include removing duplicates, renaming files and folders by date, size, location etc. then copying or moving to a central location before carrying out a full backup. 

• Installing Windows 10 / 11 or upgrading PCs from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10 / 11. This will boost performance and free up space. Microsoft support for Windows XP and Windows 7 has ended. See the Windows 10 page for more details. Windows 10 installed on your current hard drive £60. Windows 7 to Windows 10 upgrade on your current hard drive £70. Windows 7 and Windows 10 on same PC £80. Consider upgrading to a SSD hard drive at the same time. 

• Upgrade your edition of Windows 10  to a higher spec version   £60. Upgrade from Home to Pro or other versions. This gives you a number of extra features including  Bitlocker, better control of windows updates, virtualisation, assigned access, remote desktop, update for business. 

• Upgrading to Windows 10 or 11 and replacing your hard drive with a SSD hard drive is a much cheaper way to improve the performance of your computer versus buying a replacement. It could extended the useful life of your computer by 3 to 5 years.  I GUARANTEE IT WILL BOOST PERFORMANCE BY A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT.

• Microsoft Office software.  Installation of MIcrosoft Office - one off cost including licence and activation. £50-£80 depending on the version of Office. 

• Microsoft Outlook Email: Fixing problems with Outlook. Backing up Emails, contacts etc. Moving Outlook from one PC to another PC. Upgrading Outlook to a new version e.g. 2010 to 2019. Converting emails and contacts to different formats - msg eml csv etc.  Archiving emails. Once the number and size of emails, contacts and other data grows too large the performance of Outlook will deteriorate. Outlook will take longer to open and synchronize and simple tasks will 'hang' and take much longer to complete. 

• Data cloning and Operating System transfer:  Move personal data or your operating system to a new PC or a second PC. This means you don't have to reinstall all your programs / files / settings from scratch. This can save a lot of time when setting up a new machine. This is also a great way to back up personal and system data. 

• Upgraded laptops for sale. All laptops have new fast SSD hard drives, and fresh copies of Windows 10. RAM upgrades and Office software are available.  <Click this link to look at refurbished laptops for sale> . 

• Bootable USB drives with Windows 10 or MacOS installed. Fast SSD hard drive + USB 3 drive adapter+ Windows 10 or MacOS installed . These external drives can be used as an emergency drive or a recovery drive if your OS becomes unusable. Alternatively they can be used as a second operating system to keep home and work systems separate. They can be used on any compatible computer - they are not tied to any one computer. £60 + cost of the SSD drive. 

• Convert Laptop DVD drive to a hard drive for extra storage or dual boot. Most laptops only have room for one hard drive or SSD. If you have a laptop with a CD/DVD drive it's possible to convert the space to a hard drive bay. So you can add more storage or set up a dual boot system. 

• Install a Linux operating system along side or instead of Windows 7 or 10.  Install to your hard drive or run from a USB flash drive. <Click here for more details>

• Malware protection and removal £60. Scanning and removal of malware plus advice on software packages to guard against further infection.

• PC 'MOT'. System clean and performance boost for Windows PCs. Improve PC performance by cleaning up programs, services, old system files. 

• Installation of any software packages you want to add to your PC. I can download and install the software then I can buy any licences on your behalf or you can provide them yourself. £30 + cost of licence if required. 

• Removal of software and / or files and folders that cannot be removed by usual methods. This can include old anti- virus software, bundleware, adware, old system files.
