Please note that this is DOES NOT GUARANTEE ADMITTANCE for the next cohort and this is NOT THE APPLICATION FORM. You will still need to submit one when the time comes. This form helps us know who is still interested in joining, so that we can contact you to apply for priority applications when it gets closer to the start of the Fall 2023 cohort.

ABOUT ROOTED:

ROOTED is OCAPICA’s Youth Leadership and Development Fellowship that empowers high school students across the Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) to become active leaders in their communities and future careers. Our mission is to unlock the potential of socially aware young leaders who are ROOTED in justice and who cultivate change for themselves and their communities. This program focuses on leadership through social justice, civic engagement, career development, and wellness (as known as the “4 Pillars of ROOTED”). ROOTED provides various opportunities, such as:

  • Building new connections with other students and program leaders
  • Mentorship from program leaders
  • Learning from panels of working professionals
  • Professional development including leadership experiences
  • Networking
  • Attending college tours
  • Open discussions on social justice topics
  • Engaging with the community in civic engagement events
  • Wellness workshops
  • Self-growth/personal development
  • Self-discovery
  • And so much more!

By completing the14-week Fellowship, ROOTED participants, known as ROOTED Fellows, can earn 2 certificates signed by national and state public officials and qualify for future leadership and internship opportunities through OCAPICA as ROOTED Alumni/graduates. ABOUT OCAPICA:

Orange County Asian Pacific Islander Community Alliance (OCAPICA) was established in 1997 with the mission to build a healthier and stronger community by enhancing the well-being of Asians, Pacific Islanders, and other under-served populations in Orange County, California through inclusive partnerships in the areas of service, education, advocacy, organizing, and research. OCAPICA provides a variety of programs involving health, mental health, policy, adult workforce, youth development/education, housing assistance/homelessness prevention, and small business consultations. Youth development programs support under-served high school students through advisement, college preparation, and leadership development.
