ALL GreensMANIFESTO: “prohibit the construction of nuclear power stations. We know that nuclear is a distraction from developing renewable energy, carries an unacceptable risk for the communities living close to nuclear energy facilities, creates unmanageable quantities of radioactive waste and is inextricably linked with the production of world-destroying nuclear weapons.”
3
The Greens oppose the new nuclear plant at Sizewell and have campaigned to make sure local concerns about traffic, noise and the threat to Minsmere Nature Reserve are heard at the current public enquiry.
4
ALL Liberal DemocratsCampaign leaflets headline "Stop Sizewell C" and the area manifesto says: "We will also oppose consent being granted for the development of Sizewell C Nuclear power station; the Liberal Democrat view is that we need to be investing in renewables and green energy instead. We also note that building Sizewell C will have permanent devastating effects on our areas of Special Scientific interest and the beauty of the county, which in turn will affect tourism adversely

Ian Ilett (Aldeburgh/Leiston)I oppose the plans for Sizewell C. Our roads, services, health and environment would all suffer. Skilled workers would be brought in from Hinkley. Local tourism would be hit badly. I want more sustainable energy jobs for a better future. We will continue the campaign to make government and EDF listen to local concerns, whatever happens.

David Rowe (F'stowe N & Trimleys)My view is that I am not able to support the application as it currently stands based on the current information available, if the application is amended or more information is provided then I would consider it on its merits and form a view. However what I am happy to commit to is should I be elected and be required to make a decision in relation to Sizewell C then I will contact yourself and listen to the views of your group before voting.
