Shenmue 1 and 2 rereleased on PSN/XBLA/WIIWARE Campaign About Us : Shenmue500K The aim of this group is to get as many members as possible to try and put positive pressure on Sega and other developers to release SHENMUE 3. If there was a seriously huge amount of people on this page, and other Shenmue pages ,Sega and other developers would have to take the fans seriously and listen. Bear in mind the Shenmue series has sold over 1 million copies ,so there must be the fans somewhere out there who enjoyed this game. The reason it 'flopped' was because it apparently cost 47 million $ to make (these figures directly from Yu Suzuki ). Thus meaning it would have had to sell so many copies for how much it was made for. Technically the series sold well but it was the huge financial cost which made it seem a flop which wasn't necessarily the case. I am positive the fans can push for SHENMUE 3' s release but we aswell as the other pages and groups need as much backing and attention as possible to achieve this. We need to first get Shenmue in HD ports on the consoles as Sega are revisiting their old titles. If we can somehow get all fans of the series on one page or group , whatever one that maybe , it would have more of an influence in pushing for the third game. We also aim for this page to be the best source for Shenmue fans along with Shenmue dojo, we don't want to be just another group we want to be the best!!! SHENMUE Shenmue (シェンムー, Shenmū?) is a 1999 adventure video game developed by Sega AM2 and published by Sega for the Dreamcast, produced and directed by Yu Suzuki. Suzuki coined a genre title, "FREE" (Full Reactive Eyes Entertainment), for the game, based on the interactivity and freedom he wanted to give to the player. Suzuki intended to achieve this by simulating aspects of real life through the game, such as the day/night/sleep system, real time variable weather effects (unheard of in a game of this kind at the time) and various other interactive elements such as vending machines, arcades, and convenience stores.[3] Shenmue borrows gameplay from many different genres but largely consists of open-world adventure segments with real-time 3D battles interspersed throughout. Shenmue was followed by a sequel, Shenmue II, with at least one more planned as a Dreamcast series. However, production on the series ended with the second game, leaving the story at an unresolved cliffhanger. SHENMUE 2 Shenmue II (シェンムー II, Shenmū Tsū?) is a 2001 adventure game for the Dreamcast and Xbox. It is the sequel to Shenmue, and was produced and directed by Yu Suzuki of Sega AM2. Due to exclusivity rights obtained by Microsoft[citation needed], the North American Dreamcast version was cancelled. Because of this, no English dub was recorded for the Dreamcast version of Shenmue II, so the European release instead featured the original Japanese audio with English, French and Spanish subtitles (although a hacked version using the English dialog lifted from the American Xbox version is available on the internet). Shenmue II incorporates three chapters of the Shenmue saga. SHENMUE CITY Shenmue City is a new entry in the Shenmue series that will be released for the PC in Japan. Unlike the first two installments in the series, Shenmue City is not a sequel, but rather a social games service for Yahoo! Mobage service.It will be produced and directed by Yu Suzuki. Shenmue City will be the first title developed by Ys Net, a studio founded by the game creator Yu Suzuki in 2008. The title will be supervised by Sega and published in Japan by Sunsoft on the Yahoo! Mobage social gaming service and its mobile site, Mobagetown. Shenmue City is a sidestory based on Sega's adventure series, and will be the first entry in the franchise in eight years. The game will feature new stories and characters in Yokosuka, the setting of the first Shenmue, and the will include social features, though Sunsoft didn't reveal details about how these aspects affect the game. Sunsoft confirmed that the will use a free-to-play, microtransaction based model, which will allow players to purchase in game items for a fee. The game is scheduled to launch in the winter of 2010, and Japanese players can pre-register for the game on the game's official website.
