Hello! I am a trained theatre professional with a Bachelor’s degree in theatre performance and practical experience in many production aspects of theatre from Susquehanna University. Once there I focused on completing a well rounded introduction to life on and off stage of a show and working in a company, as well as actively pursuing my other interests such as mental health advocacy and completing a thesis exploring stereotypical framing of gender in Sam Shepherd plays through the lens of gender theory.
In 2014 I moved to Chelsea, Michigan to join the apprentice class at the Purple Rose Theatre. From there I then apprenticed at Tipping Point Theatre in Northville, Michigan. Currently I am a freelance stage manager working at various theaters located in the metro Detroit area. Nikki M. James is now known for her 2011 Tony speech in which she said: "There’s a story about bumblebees. Physicists couldn’t figure out how they did it, how they flew. And we all know that they do. We’ve seen them do it. They did it because nobody told them that they couldn’t because of sheer will and determination. I come from a long line of bumblebees … I am so grateful that nobody ever told me I couldn’t do it, that I couldn’t fly.” In one moment she had the opportunity to pitch herself to the world; to tell everyone where she came from and where she was going. I am working towards building a career in which I too articulate my vision as well as the vision of a company or house as artistic director. I am an alum of the Delaware Shakespeare Company (DelShakes) college apprentice program, and currently serve as a member of the Michigan Shakespeare Festival. |
