Day of Prayer - Eastern Gathering
The Lutheran-Episcopal Joint Committee of Virginia is sponsoring a Day of Prayer at Chanco on the James in Surry, Virginia. The speaker for the day will be the Rev. John Maxwell Kerr. Rev. Kerr will lead us in two group sessions considering how and why to pray, whom to pray with, resources for prayer, prayer and the liturgical year, and will share other personal prayer practices.
John Maxwell Kerr was born in Scotland and educated in Canada and England. He is a Founding Member and Second Warden of the Society of Ordained Scientists and member of AAAS. An Episcopal priest, John recently retired as Chaplain at The College of William and Mary. He has always worked ecumenically. John is also a former research scientist and university teacher in physics and medical ethics and in Moral Injury as Spiritual Director. He is married to Sue, a Unitarian Minister, and they have three astonishing children.
SCHEDULE
9:30 am: Gather/Registration
10:00 am: Worship
10:30 am: First Presentation followed by break-out groups
12:30 pm: Lunch
1:15 pm: Second Presentation
2:00 pm: Closing Worship
2:15 pm: Go in Peace
Registration fee is $20 per person. Registration deadline is May 7.
