About the Conference
The E-ARK Conference aims to bring together inspiring keynote speakers with presentations on the innovative standards and tools developed by the project. Over the three days attendees will gain a detailed understanding of the practical solutions offered by E-ARK outcomes. On the third day, we will offer delegates who wish to remain in Budapest the opportunity to gain direct hands-on experience of the E-ARK tools and solutions
Day One will take a strategic overview of the issues faced within the e-government arena, including presentations on the E-ARK pilots and maturity model, as well as a panel session on sustainability featuring a number of industry experts. A social event will be offered in the evening of Day One - details will be be circulated later but is planned to feature a dinner for which delegates will be asked to pay a reasonable cost.
Day Two will focus on the project’s technical outcomes including preservation of databases, scientific data and other “big data”. Finally, Day Three will offer a smaller group of attendees the chance to gain a hands-on introduction to deploying E-ARK solutions in a series of workshops.
We are still finalising the list of guest speakers, but among those already confirmed are:
- Alina Senn - Project Officer at the European Commission
- Dr Angela Dappert - Project Manager, British Library
- Joachim Jung - Executive Director, Open Preservation Foundation
- Krystyna Ohnesorge - Swiss Federal Archives
There will also be presentations by the E-ARK teams responsible for designing and implementing the tools and services in E-ARK.
About the Workshops
The following day, we will offer a smaller group of attendees the chance to gain a hands-on introduction to deploying E-ARK solutions through a series of workshops led by the teams who created our tools and services. Where these are accessed online, delegates will be able to use their logins to continue to work with these when they have returned home. At the end of the workshop day, where tools are available for download, attendees will have an opportunity to download these to their own computers.
