April is National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo). Each year poets nation-wide participate in the NaPoWriMo challenge to write a poem a day for the month of April (that's 30 poems in 30 days). This year, BloomBars and the Small is Beautiful Arts Collective and Poetry Group are joining forces to celebrate National Poetry Writing Month with a series of events and opportunities for poets in the DC metro area to challenge themselves and have fun in the process.

If you want to participate in the challenge, please fill out the following form and indicate which events and opportunities you want to participate in. We will NOT share your information with anyone for any reason and will only contact you with regard to the events and opportunities associated with NaPoWriMo.

Events & Opportunities

Below are a series of questions relating to specific events and options, please let us know if you would like to participate in each of the following events and/or opportunities.

EVENT: Do you want to attend the HOOT in honor of NaPoWriMo (hosted by Small is Beautiful Arts Collective, Location: 747 Princeton Place NW , Date: Saturday, April 2, 8pm)? *

A HOOT is a participatory sharing of creativity. Everyone who attends shares something, whether it be a poem, song, game, dance, yummy cooked item, etc. While this event is in honor of NaPoWriMo and we encourage folks to share something related to poetry (a poem of their own or by someone else), you are TOTALLY welcome to share something that isn't related to poetry AT ALL.

EVENT: NaPoWriMo Workshop (Hosted by BloomBars and the Small is Beautiful Poetry Group, Date: Wednesday, April 27, 7:00-8:30pm @ BloomBars [$5-10 suggested donation]). *

This event will help participants choose and revise poems to read as part of the NaPoWriMo Retrospective Reading at BloomBars on Friday, May 6th, from 8:30-10:30

EVENT: NaPoWriMo Retrospective Reading (Hosted by BloomBars and the Small is Beautiful Poetry Group, Date: Friday, May 6, 8:30-10:30pm @ BloomBars [$5-10 suggested donation]). *

This event will feature participants who participated in the NaPoWriMo Challenge during the month of April. Each featured poet will read several of their favorite poems from the challenge.
