East Reading Study: Resident Permit Parking

Closed 20 Dec 2018

Opened 29 Nov 2018

Overview

The Council has been asked to consider the introduction of an on-street Residents Permit Parking scheme in East Reading, due to parking pressures in this area of Reading.

Informal consultations were carried out in January and July this year. The results of the first informal consultation demonstrated that the majority of residents were interested in a permit parking scheme. Detailed proposals were then designed and were included in the second informal consultation, where we asked for feedback on those designs. Having reviewed all of the feedback received, we have made some changes to the proposals.

Following the approval of the Traffic Management Sub-Committee in September 2018, we are now conducting a formal (legal) statutory consultation on a proposal to introduce a permit parking scheme in East Reading. This will include a mixture of shared use and permit only restrictions.

The consultation has been separated into two areas. Copies of the advertised notices and the drawings can be found at the bottom of this page. Comments, support or objections to the proposals can be submitted by completing the online form on this page, emailing highway.objections@reading.gov.uk  or by writing to C J Brooks, Head of Legal and Democratic Services, Reading Borough Council, Civic Offices, Bridge Street, Reading RG1 2LU by 20th December 2018.

What happens next

The results of this consultation will be reported to the Traffic Management Sub-Committee on the 10th January 2019. The Sub-Committee will review any objections received and decide whether or not the proposals should be implemented.
