We are raising funds to help feed and look after our amazing rare breed animals so the farm remains a unique and welcoming space for the whole community. Our animals are magical and play an essential role in caring for our volunteers and wider community’s wellbeing.

    Situation

Swansea Community Farm solves social isolation and poor mental health by bringing people together to form a purposeful community that runs, develops and manages a city Farm. Our rare breed Farm animals are central to getting people here with many volunteers feeling as if they don’t relate well to people. Learning to enjoy caring for others (whether with four or two legs!) and to gently communicate without words is key to the life changing journeys our volunteers start here.

    Solution

With these funds for feed, bedding and health costs, we will be able to meet the rising expenses of keeping our superstar animals. Costs increase further in winter with no grass growing, our animals need to spend more time indoors sheltering from the Welsh weather. The Farm will continue to attract isolated people drawn here by the animals and the therapeutic effects of working with them. The volunteers’ hard work means our thousands of visitors can enjoy the animals and green spaces too!
