Hau'ula Counseling Team

Guidance and counseling services are provided for the purpose of assisting students with their educational, personal-social adjustments, and progress. This service is an integral part of the total school program. Specific areas addressed are crisis intervention, counseling (helping students with coping strategies, make decisions and solve problems), and guidance activities such as testing, and career information. Examples of situations where a counselor might be involved with students include:

  • When a student has personal concerns or important decisions to make and needs to know more about alternatives and possible consequences.

  • When a student wants some help in solving a problem with a teacher or a parent.

  • When a student is concerned about drugs, alcohol, and related issues.

  • When a student thinks he/she may need help or coordination by outside agencies, such as Social Services.

  • When a student would like career guidance or be part of a counseling group.

  • When a student’s parents want to be constructively involved (having a conference with a counselor and/or teachers).

Loke Kaiahua(PSAP Counselor) Email: lkaiahua@nahonu.k12.hi.us Phone: 305-2098

Aloha, my name is Aunty Lokelani Kaiahua and I was born and raised in Honolulu, O'ahu until the age of 14 years old. My 'ohana then relocated to Hau'ula to help care for my Kupuna's. Hau'ula became our home sweet home where I eventually started my own 'ohana. I'm a mother of 3 daughter's and 8 grandchildren. I currently live in beautiful Ka'a'awa. I attended Pu'uhale Elementary School, Kalakaua Intermediate School and then Kahuku High & Intermediate School where I graduated in 1989. I studied at Windward Community College until entering the workforce to help support my 'ohana. In my free time I enjoy cooking, baking and spending quality time with my grandchildren. I love watching them grow, saying YES to almost everything their parents would say NO to and showing them unconditional love. One thing about me you might not know is that my favorite ice cream is the Sea Salt Caramel from the 7-Eleven stores.

Aaron Keo (SBBH Counselor) Email: akeo@nahonu.k12.hi.us Phone: 305-2132

My name is Mr. Keo, and I was born and raised here in Hauʻula and am also an alumni of Hauʻula Elementary School. My wife and I have 5 children (1 in college at BYU-Provo, 2 at Kahuku High School, and 2 here at the elementary) and all of them are part of the Hawaiian Language Immersion Program at their school. After Elementary I attended Kamehameha High School and then received a football scholarship to play football at the University of Buffalo. After that first year of college, I decided to serve a church mission for 2 years. After completing my mission, I attended BYU-Provo, then transferred to BYU-Hawaii, where I graduated in Social Work. Finally, I attended the University of Hawaii and received my Masters in Social Work. In my free time, I love watching movies, either at the theater or in the comfort of my home. I also enjoy sports, especially football. I coached High School football for 6 years, and Pop Warner for 2 when our oldest son started playing. Now, I enjoy being a Dad/spectator in the stands as I cheer with the rest of the Red Raider Nation for my son who plays for Kahuku. One thing you might not know about me is that I speak Japanese because I served my church mission in the Japan, Tokyo-South Mission
