    298. Embracing The Pivot: Dominique Scott On Running Her Own Race & The Bravery Of Trying Something New

Happy Boston Marathon Monday, Hurdlers! Toeing the start line this morning is our guest for today, Adidas pro runner Dominique Scott. The South Africa native moved to the United States to run at the University of Arkansas, where she became a 5x NCAA champion, 12x All American, and 10x SEC champion. After graduation, she moved to Boulder with her husband to train with Team Boss and it’s there where she started her journey racing on the roads. Dom shares with us what it’s been like training for her first ever Boston marathon (and third ever marathon), how she pivoted from the track to the roads, and her best tips for getting out of your comfort zone. I love that Dom is so open about what it’s like to excel at something like the track for so long and then put herself out there on the roads racing with the best of the best.

Refreshing!

Emily’s podcast is a breath of fresh air. As a former Ultramarathon runner and now Ironman Triathlete I appreciate the insights for training for sports. But what caught my eye was the solo travel episode - which I loved.

I used to ravel solo until I got re-married and now my husband loves my travel ideas. Still I travel solo as much as I can and meeting people along the way is incredible.

Always Dropping The Gold of Wisdom

I’ve been listening to this podcast for over a year now, and I can honestly say that there is something new that I learn after every show. There is so much great information that I’ve been able to apply to my life to enhance my quality of living that makes me so grateful for Emily‘s investments into this show. Highly recommend to all of my friends all the time!

A must in my podcast library

I love Hurdle— the podcast, the mindset, and the community. Running (and life) can feel isolating and Hurdle is one way, one part of my weekly routine, that makes me feel like my experiences, challenges, the highs and lows, are not mine alone.

Emily has a wealth of knowledge herself and her guests offer expertise on things that I care about that I am certain I wouldn’t come across elsewhere. As someone who isn’t living in a big city or doesn’t have a bunch of running friends, Hurdle was a well appreciated find.
