WHAT IS MAY 7 : Last year, this day we made history. People from across the world came together for the first time to celebrate the spirit of service and volunteerism. This was not a day handed down by the UN or Govts but created by these individuals in over 50 countries. The largest mobilization was by Bakul with over 1000 volunteers giving a few hours of service at shelter homes (orphanages), old age homes etc in 26 cities of India. The highest concentration was in Bhubaneswar, where over 500 volunteers fanned out to about 30 Shelter homes and Anganwadis.

WHO CAN TAKE PART : We request everyone in India,WHEREVER YOU ARE(any city) to join hands and ACT TOGETHER by merely giving 2-3 HOURS on Monday, MAY 7 2012 during anytime of the day.

WHAT TO DO : You could join a group that already exists in your city or start a group. You could form a partnership between Bakul and your organization or institution.

The idea is very simple- 3-4 persons or more can go to a shelter home (orphanage), old age home, slum cluster nearby during your free time and spend time with the children/elderly, have fun/art activities on May 7 2012.
