Description

The KAKEHASHI TOMODACHI INOUYE SCHOLARS (KTIS) program is a unique partnership between the Japan Foundation KAKEHASHI and U.S.- Japan Council TOMODACHI initiatives. KTIS offers the opportunity for participants to engage in people-to-people exchange while learning about the life of Senator Daniel K. Inouye and to embrace the lessons and legacy of the late senator’s life as an American of Japanese ancestry, public servant and political leader.

Last summer, twenty-two DePaul University students traveled across the Pacific to learn about Japan and build friendships with students from Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto. This winter, Ritsumeikan’s students have come to our country to do the same, visiting Washington DC, Los Angeles and Chicago.

On March 10th the Ritsumeikan scholars will be sharing with us brief interactive presentations about their culture and current business trends. This will be followed by a farewell celebration, in honor of the learning and accomplishments of these students during their time in Chicago. We would be honored to have you join us for an evening of hors d' oeuvres and live entertainment, featuring vocal and jazz performers, as we bid farewell to our scholars.
