WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE AN IMPACT ON MENTAL HEALTH IN SOCIETY.
Our origins:
The Mad Tea Co. started when a group of passionate Flinders University students were disheartened at the lack of awareness of mental health in our communities. Many of us have lived experience or a close friend/family member who has suffered through a difficult point in life. So many of us have lost people we cared about. We realised very quickly while we were born out of Flinders, this movement would transcend across the state. There's a chance that if you're reading this message, you have a similar story to share.
The cause:
We believe we have identified a huge gap in our society between having an enjoyable life and needing crisis support - we want to create an movement that will empower people to discuss mental health everyday without fear of stigma. It's an issue that needs to be addressed in across our communities. We all have a story of our own lived experiences, or the lived experiences of our friends and family. Poor mental health and its consequences takes its toll on us all. The Mad Tea Co additionally wants to highlight the disproportionate level of poor mental health in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, this will be an area of focus for the movement. To create the change we want to make, it takes a collaborative effort, it takes passionate and determined people. We know mental health is fluctuant and we want to build resources that individuals can use to care for themselves and for others. We've already starting linking in with mental health experts, grassroot organisations as well as suicide prevention networks.
What your support goes to:
As a not-for-profit venture, funding raised in the community goes back into funding mental health projects, therapeutic green spaces and educative resources to empower individuals to care for themselves and others. Campaigns require resources, events require funding - to make a change in the community we need something to get started with. We aim to create a continuous amount of meaningful online content that our community can find solace in. Long term the range of herbal teas will fund the mental health project we want to focus on. With the genorosity of your donation, The Mad Tea Collective will be able to continue to build momentum so we can move to changing the landscape of mental health in our communities.
