Where do you want to help?
Foster Family and Adoption Services
We provide loving homes and better opportunities to those children who have neither. Our foster children are placed in foster homes throughout the community, where the foster parents are highly trained and deeply compassionate. We help both the child and the parents through the entire process and assist in providing reimbursements to foster parents who have provided homes for our children. Should a family decided to adopt, our staff will guide them through the entire adoption process as well.
Non-Public (Special Needs) Schools
At McKinley Children’s Center, we understand the importance of an education and also know that some children need more attention than others in the classroom. Our Canyon View School and Desert View School are Western Association of Schools and Colleges accredited schools focused on providing an education to children with special needs. Our teachers are highly trained and educated, and use the latest technologies and honed learning methods to achieve great results in their classrooms. Students range in ages from 5 to 22, and each one is provided the best possible education.
Mental Health
McKinley's Mental Health Program includes rehabilitative and psychological services such as individual, group, case consultation, collateral services, crisis intervention, medication support and management services, psychological assessment and targeted case management. All clients meet the criteria for medical necessity as established in the Short Doyle Act administered by Medi-Cal Services under the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.
Residential
McKinley Children’s Center believes in providing a home-like environment to those who aren’t fortunate enough to have one. Our Residential Program offers a 24-hour, 7-days-a-week haven for boys between the ages of 10 and 18 to call home. The boys reside in cottages that provide a safe and secure environment with individual, group and family resources to promote emotional health and provide permanency placement upon discharge from our facility.
