MoCom Gardens 2023 Plot Application
Applications are due on March 10th for priority spots!  We will notify all gardeners of plot assignments on March 17th.  If demand exceeds capacity, plots will be awarded by lottery.  All new gardeners must attend an orientation on April 1 (for East Bench plots), or April 2 (for WabiSabi and Our Village plots), or by appointment with the garden manager.

Garden and Plot Descriptions

Plots on East Bench Road are either 8' x 10' or 8' x 20' garden beds.  This location is in Spanish Valley, just south of the golf course and about six miles south of downtown Moab.  The East Bench garden has access to compost, wood chip mulch, fruit trees, and irrigation, which is typically available late April to October.

Plots at Our Village Community Center, are 6' x 30' rows. Our Village is located on 500 West, behind Tex's Riverways. This garden has access to drip irrigation, compost, and wood chip mulch.  Gardeners here will sign a waiver to agree to follow Our Village guidelines.  https://www.ourvillagemoab.org/

Plots at the WabiSabi thrift store are 4' x 15' raised beds, and are 2' tall. This location will have manure for soil amendment, wood chip mulch, and drip irrigation.  These will be newly installed in 2023 and there may be some troubleshooting during this first year.

Plot Fee / Volunteer Options

Plot fee/Volunteer options are shown in the chart below.  These amounts refer to what is owed for the whole year, e.g. it's just a one-time fee and volunteer hours can be spread over the entire growing season.  Gardeners can choose to pay a higher fee with a lower volunteer commitment (Option 1), a smaller fee with a greater volunteer commitment (Option 3), or a compromise of both (Option 2).  If none of these options are feasible, please contact mocomgardens@gmail.com and we will find something that works for you!

Gardeners should decide which option they want to commit to by the orientation day (first weekend in April); fees will be collected at that time.  Fee money helps us cover liability insurance, tools, and other garden supplies.  Volunteering may involve weeding, fence or irrigation repair, and other typical garden chores.  Volunteers can do work during scheduled workdays or on their own schedule throughout the growing season.  The MoCom Garden managers will assist volunteer with tasks as needed.

Plot payment options.  If you need to work out a different payment or volunteer commitment due to your finances or time, no problem! Just email mocomgardens@gmail.com
