PETITION
1. About four years back Noida authority had hiked water tariff by 65 to 70 %. The present hike made effective from 1st April 2018 has come so soon and is also not justified at all for the following reasons among others :
A. The quality of water in noida is extremely poor .
B. The water supplied in noida is untreated and not suitable for bathing and washing . Let alone for drinking .
C. TDS levels are quite high and it contains sediments and harmful substances.
D. The quantity of water being supplied is quite inadequate to meet the normal requirements is residents
E. Most of the time the pressure is low .
F. Residents have to bear additional burden of replacement of water pipelines because of their frequent corrosion.
G. Home appliances get damaged due to high TDS levels.
2. It is very surprising that a new and modern city of Noida has not thought of installing water meters for individual households. The consumption of water varies from house hold to household depending upon
the number of users . How can there be same charges for everyone?
3.We understand Noida Authority has engaged a consulting company to recommend ways and means to augment authorities revenues. It is an irresponsible and arbitrary decision of the part of Noida authority to hike the water tariff without waiting for consultants report .
Couple of suggestions for generating revenues thru other resources :
A. The authority can augment it's revenue by increasing the tariff for commercial hoardings .
B. Around 80 % of sewerage generated water is treated thru STP , this treated water is being sold by Noida authority to NTPC , Botanical garden , builders , housing societies etc. These rate can be revised which will result in higher revenues for Noida authority. C.Also Noida authority can initiate recoveries of thousands of crores of dues from the builders
4. We the residents of various housing societies in Noida, earnestly urge Chairman - CEO Noida Authority to roll back hike in water tariff and maintain status quo till the issues mentioned in Para 1 and 2 above are addressed on urgent basis
