Meet & Greet with Author Dr. Cecile Forte 

Cecile Forte will give a presentation on her book "My husband Made A Man Out Of Me And I Resent It"... Her book celebrates the fact that women are "man-made" in the sense that they have the freedom, means and unfailing support of their man to blossom into the best woman they can become. Cecile enjoys a national reputation as an author and a specialist in Developmental Education as well as an expert in the accreditation of colleges and universities in the continental United States and Puerto Rico.

About Author M. Cecile Forte Ph.D.

M. Cecile Forté, Ph.D. (aka D. Reid Wallace) was educated in New York State's public and private schools.  Dr. Forté received her doctoral degree from Hofstra University.  She has enjoyed a successful career as a teacher, administrator and consultant to public schools, colleges and universities on Long Island.  She enjoys a national reputation as an author and a specialist in Developmental Education as well as an expert in the accreditation of colleges and universities in the continental U.S. and Puerto Rico.  She began her career as an English teacher in the Union Free School District 5 in Freeport, New York.  Realizing the needs of her students in the area of literacy, she chose to pursue a Master's Degree in Reading Instruction.  Wanting greater expertise and desiring to expand her circle of service, she entered the doctoral program in Reading and Learning Disabilities, graduating while employed at the Suffolk County Community College, where she designed and supervised the Reading Program and Department.  The Women's Group and the Women's Studies Program at the college recognized and honored "...her distinctive performance and loving concern for the students, faculty and staff".  Dr. Forté served as Interim Associate Director for the Commission on Higher Education, Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.  She received New York City Technical College's Presidential Award and delivered the Commencement Address in the same year.  She became Central Academic Dean for all three-campuses and the 22,000+ student body at Suffolk Community College and retired with distinction in 2001.  At her retirement party, 18 students representing the schools and colleges where Dr. Forté had been employed praised her contributions to their careers and their lives with eloquence and admiration.  A 12-year member of the John T. Mather Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, Dr. Forté served on Brookhaven Town's Ethics Board for three years.  She has also been a member of Brookhaven Town's Planning Board and was appointed Chair in 2005.  In 2011, Dr. Forte ran for Brookhaven Town Supervisor, the first African-American female to do so in the Town's 357 year history.  Dr. Forté is the author of three textbooks and three trade books including STOLEN LOVE: POETRY FOR CHEATERS, MY HUSBAND MADE A MAN OUT OF ME AND I RESENT IT! and the very popular, WISE WOMEN DON'T HAVE HOT FLASHES THEY HAVE POWER SURGES!    Dr. Forté is the wife of David Pike and the mother of David III.

 

About Denise Nostrom:

Denise Nostrom, a life-long resident of Long Island, entered the financial services industry in 1990. She began her career at Smith Barney as a portfolio assistant. She moved onto a smaller firm still working in the capacity of a portfolio assistant. She did not feel that her ambitions were being fulfilled, so she trained to become a Personal Financial Advisor with IDS Financial Services (now commonly known as Ameriprise). She spent just under 4 years at IDS. She made the decision to start her own firm, Diversified Financial Solutions, in 1996 which focuses on personalized customer service.  
Denise works with clients from all walks of life, helping them to improve their lives and follow their dreams. Denise's philosophy is that with time, discipline and determination you can reach your financial goals and dreams.  Wall Street firms, banks, and trust companies could experience frequent personnel and strategy changes.  Denise, on the other hand, has been in business for over 17 years. Many of Denise's clients have been with her for most of those years. She has seen her clients successfully send their children to college, pay down debt, buy their first homes, retire and much more. She will be there for you through the good times and the bad.  To keep up with the changes in times, Denise is a member of the Society of Financial Professionals and is a branch manager with series 7, 24, 51, 53 and 63. She is licensed in 25 states, maintains and exceeds the minimum continuing education standards required to sustain her ChFC & CLU designation as well as her life, health and annuity license and securities registrations.
