Description

Turn back the clock to the 1950s at the Red Oak Victory Dinner Dance!

On September 2, the Red Oak Victory will ring with the cool sounds of blue-note era jazz performed by the John Kalleen Group. In an atmosphere reminiscent of a 1950s supper club you'll eat dinner, enjoy a drink, dance, and listen to the timeless sounds of American jazz. You'll find the John Kalleen Group is a tight, creative band that swings like mad and is a blast to listen to!

We'll also have classic cars and hotrods from the 50s and 60s on display plus, of course, the famous Red Oak Victory historic ship and surrounding World War II shipyard. Red Oak is the last of the 747 ships built at the Kaiser-Richmond shipyards for the war effort. She served not only in World War II but also saw service in Korea, as a commercial vessel in the 1950s, and as a part of the Military Sealift Command in the Vietnam War. She floats proudly near where she was built in 1944 and continues her service now as a museum ship. Your tour of the ship includes the Captain's quarters, the bridge, the original and fully operational radio room, the galley, the cargo holds, and the spectacular engine room.

This special $20 ticket (regular price $60), is available ONLY to the driver and one guest bringing a pre-1970 classic car or military vehicle. For the regular dinner ticket, please visit www.bit.ly/rovjazz1.

A unique art, music, and dance venue in the Bay Area—The 1944 “SS Red Oak Victory”!

The ambience of this genuine World War II Victory Ship and the surrounding historic Kaiser Shipyards will transport you back in time to World War II.  You can almost hear the clang of hammers on metal and the staccato of rivet guns.  Or maybe the sounds of the Glenn Miller orchestra coming from a radio.  No matter how she speaks to you, the SS Red Oak Victory is an attraction you will want to return to again and again.  Come tour the ship with your family and see our interesting and educational exhibits.  Or come to enjoy one our many special events throughout the year.
