2023 Edward R. Murrow for Excellence in Digital Reporting, a national award given by the Radio Television Digital News Association.
Josie Dostal, Will Sleddens, Jenna Thompson and Luke Weidner were honored for their story “Farm to School Institute grows students’ interest in local agriculture,” published in the Nebraska News Service on May 12, 2022 as part of a NewsLab final project.
2020 Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence awards, Region 7 (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska)
Two winners advanced to the national competition: “A father’s love, now and forever” by Alli Davis in Online Feature Reporting and “Finding a Voice: New Americans and Language” by the staff of Nebraska Mosaic in Online In-Depth Reporting. Two students were named finalists for their work in the Nebraska Mosaic class: Elizabeth Rembert for “Flood Delivers Distinct Blows to Nebraska’s Immigrants” in the reporting category and Ben Jones for “Diverse Cultures Combine to Create Culture of North Star Boys Soccer Team” in online sports reporting.
2019 Society for Professional Journalists (SPJ) awards, Region 7 (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska)
Nebraska Mosaic’s “Painting a New Picture: New Americans and their Art” was named a finalist in Best Use of Multimedia and was named a winner in Online Feature Reporting and will advance to the SPJ national competition in that category.
Mosaic student 2018 alum Lindsey Yoneda was named a winner in the Online/Digital Feature Videography for her Mosaic project, “What We Carried: Lincoln.” She will also advance to the national level.
