About DofE at Ysgol John Bright
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award has run for over a decade at YJB, and hundreds of students have completed their awards successfully in that time.
There are three levels of programme you can take on while at Ysgol John Bright which, when successfully completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. The main differences between them are the minimum length of time they take to complete, how challenging they are and the minimum age you can start.
Each award is comprised of a number of different sections.
Volunteering
Physical Activity
Skill
Expedition
Residental (Gold Award Only)
The bulk of extra curricular activity time is given to preparing and training for the Expedition section, the other sections are completed in the students' own time. There is more information and guidance on the award at https://www.dofe.org/what-is-dofe/
