Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County

Mission

Our mission is to inspire and empower the youth of Monterey County to realize their full potential to become responsible, healthy, productive, and successful citizens.

The Big Idea

Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County’s (BGCMC) Healthy Lifestyles Initiative provides support to over 2,000 youth and includes providing more than 80,000 meals to youth annually. Beyond nutrition, the Clubs address the physical, mental, and social well-being of children through daily fitness activities, year-round sports leagues, cooking classes and counseling services. Our Triple Play program cultivates essential life skills, preparing our youth for a healthier future. Triple Play engages youth in and promotes physical health by providing low-risk settings for members to explore moving their bodies and eating healthy foods. These playful experiences build movement and nutrition skills. The Girls’ Health in Girls’ Hands program empowers 500+ girls to become advocates for their health and wellness, equipping them to positively influence their schools and communities. From Soledad to Seaside, our programs are reaching hundreds of families in need.

I feel very fortunate that my daughter had the opportunity to participate because she was educated on the importance of healthy eating, the importance of taking care of her skin, the importance of taking care of her body and the importance of taking care of her mind. I believe these types of programs are crucial to the healthy development of our youth and their overall wellbeing.
