Request Benchmarking Assistance
This year buildings in Berkeley between 15,000 sqft and 24,999 sqft are required to start submitting annual energy benchmarks to the City of Berkeley under the Berkeley Municipal Code Chapter 19.81 - Building Emissions Saving Ordinance (BESO). Energy benchmarks disclose a building's annual energy consumption (natural gas and electricity) and are due by July 1st each year.
Benchmarking is the process of tracking a building’s energy use to see how it compares to similar properties and to understand how it is performing over time. Energy use is the single largest controllable cost in building operations, and tracking energy performance is the critical first step to reducing energy use and decreasing a building’s greenhouse gas emissions.
The BESO Team will contact you in mid-June to assist you through the benchmarking process.
