A Message from Our Executive Director Welcome to NOVA’s 2020 Roaring 20’s Auction! Thank you for coming together with our NOVA family this evening. We are especially appreciative that you are doing so during these difficult and unprecedented times. This is our first virtual gala, and we look forward to providing an entertaining evening for you. When our Auction Committee chose the theme ‘the roaring 20’s for this event 18 months ago, little did they know that the beginning of this decade would begin quite this way as these 20’s have certainly roared in like no other. But for tonight, at least, let’s harken back to those more carefree 20’s of the past! Thank you to our Auction Committee members who have worked tirelessly to arrange tonight’s event, especially so under such challenging circumstances. Their commitment to bringing this event to fruition has been nothing short of remarkable. We couldn’t have done it without you! NOVA is also grateful for the continued support of our many sponsors and contributors for this evening’s event and throughout the year. Designated as an essential service, NOVA services remained available during the ‘stay at home order’ and throughout the pandemic. At the same time, we have lost over $200,000 in revenue due to the temporary closure of the NOVA Thrift Shop, and increases in operational costs as we ramped up the use of technology to provide programs and services in a safe and secure way. Your purchase of auction items and your contribution to the special appeal tonight will make a difference and help us to continue to ensure that every victim we serve has the opportunity to heal and move forward in their lives. Our Mission
Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA) supports, counsels, and empowers victims of sexual assault and other serious crimes in Bucks County and works to prevent and eliminate violence in society through advocacy, training, community education, and prevention programs.

When a victim of sexual violence arrives at any of our local emergency rooms, NOVA SANE nurses respond within 1-hour to provide specialized health services and compassion. When after a NOVA school-based prevention program, a child discloses that they’ve been a victim of sexual abuse, NOVA Educators support the child and work with the school to make a ChildLine report. When an elderly man becomes a victim of fraud, NOVA Victim Advocates are there, walking hand-in-hand, allaying fears, explaining, guiding, and providing support throughout the criminal justice process. When a child sexual abuse case is investigated, NOVA, through the Child Advocacy Center, provides a safe and child-friendly space for child victims to speak about their abuse, to receive counseling and intervention services to aid in their healing, and to help avoid re-traumatization when being interviewed by members of the law enforcement investigative team. Striving for a safe community free of violence, NOVA provides hundreds of school-based and community prevention education programs on personal safety, mandated reporter training, and other topics providing children and adults with the information and tools to keep themselves and others safe. When any victim of crime reaches out for help, NOVA provides free stateof-the-art counseling services and victim advocacy to help them regain their dignity, health, and quality of life.

Rachael Denhollander is an attorney, author, advocate, and educator who is recognized as a leading voice on the topic of sexual abuse. Possessing a unique blend of professional skills, personal experiences, and dynamic communication style, she is a sought-after media commentator, speaker, and consultant. Her grasp of legal issues, corporate ethics, effective leadership strategies, and investigative practices are coupled with a trauma-informed, deeply compassionate understanding of the realities facing survivors of sexual abuse and their path toward healing. Bridging the gap between survivors and the society and institutions that may have failed them, Denhollander forces audiences to ask the question, “What is a girl or boy worth?” while equipping them with the tools to answer, “Everything.” ABOUT RACHAEL DENHOLLANDER
Rachael Denhollander became known internationally in 2016 as the first woman to pursue criminal charges and speak publicly against USA Gymnastics’ team doctor Larry Nassar, one of the most prolific sexual abusers in recorded history. As a result of her activism over 300 women—including numerous Olympic medalists—came forward as survivors of Nassar’s abuse, eventually leading to his life imprisonment. Her courageous tenacity and ongoing advocacy helped trigger a complete upheaval at both USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University, where former executives and high-ranking officials face numerous criminal charges for their complicity in covering up Nassar’s abuse and lying about what they knew. Instrumental in helping secure a record-setting $500 million settlement with Michigan State University for Nassar survivors in 2018, she continues to act as a fiduciary representing her fellow survivors in USA Gymnastic’s ongoing bankruptcy proceedings. Denhollander has extensive experience working with corporate boards, executive leadership, and politicians to help them understand how to lead with courage and integrity through crisis, how to communicate their values within their organizations and to the public, and how to properly respond to reports of abuse. She has advised the boards of some of the nation’s largest universities as they seek to address failures to adequately respond to abuse on their campuses. With extensive experience in the political realm, she has proven an effective advocate in helping push through vital legislative changes at the state level to make it easier for survivors of abuse to obtain justice. For her work as an advocate and educator on sexual assault, Denhollander was named one of TIME Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World” and one of Glamour Magazine’s “Women of the Year” in 2018. Additionally, she received the “Inspiration of the Year” award from Sports Illustrated, was a joint recipient of ESPN’s “Arthur Ashe Courage Award,” and was named a “Michiganian of the Year” by the Detroit News, along numerous other awards and recommendations. Denhollander has engaged audiences with lectures and live Q&A’s on the campus of numerous universities across the nation, including Harvard, Stanford, NYU, Columbia Law School, UC Berkeley, USC, Pepperdine, and others. She has lectured on leadership at both the United States Military Academy at West Point and the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, and been invited to keynote the National Center on Sexual Exploitation’s annual conference. Denhollander is a highly effective fundraising speaker for child advocacy centers, women’s shelters, and other organizations on the front lines of confronting abuse. A member of the California Bar Association, Denhollander has educated attorneys on the dynamics of sexual abuse at the American Bar Association’s Sports Law Forum, addressed top corporate attorneys on issues of institutional ethics and fiduciary responsibility at NYU Law School, and instructed attorneys at the annual meeting of the Kentucky Bar Association. Additionally, Denhollander was the commencement speaker at the graduation ceremony of Brandeis School of Law in 2018. She has appeared on CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX News, BBC, PBS, NPR and regularly appears in national and international print media, including the New York Times, Washington Post, Der Spiegel, Wall Street Journal, and the Associated Press, and is a New York Times and Vox op-ed contributor. Denhollander holds a Juris Doctorate from Oak Brook College of Law and possesses an honorary doctorate from the American University of Paris. Denhollander lives in Louisville, Kentucky with her husband Jacob and their four young children.

The auction software will automatically raise your bid by a pre-determined increment until your maximum bid has been met or the silent auction ends. General Auction Rules 1. Silent auction bidding will close at 9:00 p.m. on October 15, 2020 2. All sales are final. No exchanges or refunds are permitted. Everything is sold “as is,� and NOVA is not responsible for any businesses that close due to COVID-19 or other circumstances. Please read specifications and limitations carefully. 3. You may bid as often as you like on each item. Incremental bidding rules apply. Please see each item’s online description for more information. If the proper raise in price has not been adhered to, the previous bidder will be entitled to the item. 4. By this purchase, the buyer waives any claims for liability against either this organization or the donor of the property or services. Neither the organization nor the donor is responsible for any personal injuries or damages to property that may result from the use of the property or services sold. 5. Reservations for dinner, trips, sporting events, etc. are subject to availability and must be mutually arranged with the donor unless otherwise specified. 6. Some items cannot be shipped. Please see individual item descriptions for specific information. 7. Certain restrictions and blackout dates may apply on travel items. Travel items do not include applicable fees and taxes unless otherwise specified. 8. Restaurant gift certificates exclude the cost of alcohol, tax, and gratuity, unless specified. Please note that vouchers and certificates have no cash value. 9. Some auction items have an expiration date listed in the description and/or on the gift certificate. Please review this information prior to bidding as all sales are final. 10. It is the responsibility of bidders to honor scheduled delivery of goods or services or negotiate scheduling, as specified in the item description. Delivery of items and services sold at the auction is done on the honor system. Neither the Auction Committee, nor Network of Victim Assistance, can enforce these commitments. The Auction Committee is happy to support delivery of goods and services by reminding donors of their promises. Please take the initiative to call if something is amiss. 11. Network of Victim Assistance believes all descriptions and commentary accompanying the auction items to be correct; however, Network of Victim Assistance makes no warranties or representations of any kind regarding the items or services provided.

12. In the event of a dispute, a designated Auction Official will determine the winning bidder or will re-offer and resell the items in dispute. The Auction Official’s decision will be final. 13. Payment in full is mandatory for all items at the closing of the silent auction. If you do not cash out yourself, your purchases will be charged to your card at 10:00 p.m. on October 15, 2020. VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express will be accepted as forms of payment. 14. Refunds will not be given on unclaimed items. Should the item(s) need to be shipped, the buyer may be responsible for shipping charges (depending on size and weight of item). 15. Check with your own tax advisor as to the deductibility of the purchase of each item.
Claiming your items Items will be available for pick-up at the NOVA business office Saturday, October 17th – Friday, October 23rd, 2020, and available for delivery Sunday, October 18th – Friday, October 23rd, 2020. Items can be picked up at the NOVA business office (2370 York Road, Suite B1, Jamison, PA 18929), delivered to you within a 15 mile radius of NOVA’s office, or shipped to you (depending on size and weight of items, buyer may be responsible for shipping costs). Some items cannot be shipped. Please see individual item descriptions for specific information. You will receive a gift certificate for services and intangible items, with contact information as appropriate. Some event tickets are not available this far in advance of the season, and you will receive a contact number of the donor or a NOVA staff member will contact you when the tickets become available. We cannot ensure that the business(es) behind your purchase will be open following the current health crisis. While we hope that all of our generous auction donors can return to business as usual, if your auction purchase cannot be honored by the donor as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak and its effects, we hope that you will allow your contribution to be considered a donation that is fully tax-deductible.
