Letter to Caroline Flint
To the Rt Hon Caroline Flint MP
We, the undersigned, are writing to you to ask you to withdraw your support for Boris Johnson’s ‘no deal’ Brexit and do everything in your power to prevent it from going ahead.
In the past, you frequently publicly expressed that you respect the result of the 2016 referendum but did not support a ‘no deal’ Brexit, but since Theresa May’s resignation from her role as Prime Minister and Boris Johnson’s subsequent appointment, you have changed your position and publicly supported Boris Johnson’s “do or die” stance on Brexit, including leaving the EU without a deal.
Every credible report and analysis shows that a ‘no deal’ Brexit would be severely damaging to the UK, affecting medical and food supplies, jobs, and crashing the country into a sudden deep economic depression. All MPs have a responsibility to their country first, then to their constituents and finally to their party. By supporting Boris Johnson’s plans for a ‘no deal’ Brexit, you are reneging on your responsibility to the country and your constituents, and in doing so are also going against your own party’s policy.
We therefore urge you to reconsider and to withdraw your support for Boris Johnson’s ‘no deal’ Brexit and do everything you can to prevent it.
Kind regards
Your constituents
