American River Conservancy (ARC) and Cosumnes Culture and Waterways (CCAWW) joyously hosted an extraordinary community experience!

ARC hosted this fundraiser and event to give the 320-acre property currently known as Ladies Valley to CCAWW, a native-based non-profit serving local Miwok people.  With this momentous gift of land and funds to the indigenous people of the region, ARC is participating in the international “landback” movement.  Gifting lands historically overtaken by colonization is a fair and equitable way to support the revival of culture for native communities all over the world.

Please unite with many others in achieving far-sighted benefits for Native American culture and communities!

This fundraising experience raised over $25,000.  The funds will support "seed money" for a living, cultural heritage site in a place originally known as Coso Village and inhabited by the Miwok people for centuries.  On this land embracing the free-flowing Cosumnes River, local tribes will build a village of traditional bark houses and once again care for the land by gathering and tending plants for food, medicine, and culture.  Along with ARC’s gift of the land in Placerville, CA, the gift of funding will support the initial stewardship of the property’s vital landscape.  Communities will benefit from a place to learn traditional knowledge from the living descendants of original people. With the completion of this collaborative land and funding transfer, the property will belong to the local indigenous community in perpetuity.

Live event occurred on 10/22/22 from 2:00 to 5:00 at Wakamatsu Farm.

During the event, guests enjoyed Native American music, storytelling, a nature-inspired fine art auction, local wines, raffles, and more.
Ticket included a lavish charcuterie and one glass of wine.
KIDS under 16 were FREE!

ARC & CCAWW are 501c3 non-profit organizations.  Auction donations are tax-deductible in accordance with tax laws.
