Your gift today will go directly to creating the #POHFUND.

Poh the Dog was a dog who was young at heart until the end.

His story was chronicled via Instagram @PohtheDogsBigAdventure. He was diagnosed with renal failure and inoperable tumors in his abdomen in January of 2015. His parents asked their vet, "How long do we have with him, a month...a year?" The answer they received was, "It could be just days."

With the knowledge of Poh's shortened lifespan, his parents decided to bring him on a road trip--one last big adventure to enjoy his last days in style. As time went on, his parents sought out the help of the Integrative and Rehabilitative Medicine Service of the Animal Medical Center, who provided Poh with acupuncture, hydrotherapy and chiropractic care, among other things. With these extra treatments and care from his parents, Poh's liver and kidney values went back to normal. His kidney failure was reversed, a minor miracle in itself. These treatments helped Poh turn those "just days left" into almost a full year of living. Poh passed on comfortably and naturally with both parents by his side at the ripe old age of 16 years and 4 months.

In an effort to keep Poh's legacy alive, his parents are starting the #POHFUND with AMC.

This will be the first charitable community fund at the Animal Medical Center specifically created for the care of senior dogs and cats. It will also be the first one that will be "crowdfunded." Usually the charitable community funds at AMC, which are designed to help pet patients whose owners may not otherwise be able to afford care, have a primary donor who puts up the initial money to create the fund (a minimum of $100,000 is required). In this case, the primary donors will be YOU, the people who have been following "Poh the Dog's Big Adventure" who want other pets to "Live Like Poh."

The Animal Medical Center is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit veterinary hospital and an institute for veterinary education and research. All donations made directly to the AMC are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.

We hope that you can be generous in helping us start The Poh Fund, our way of continuing Poh the Dog's legacy of living life to the fullest. You will have the chance to be a part of his story and help other pups (and cats!) #livelikepoh.
